Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Engagement: During this assignment, my students would be allowed to decide how they wanted their objects to be presented to the class. They could either bring their actual objects into class and tell their classmates about them or they could take pictures of their objects and tell their classmates about the objects based off of their pictures. Representation: I posted the instructions on my blog. I posted the audio file that my students can listen to, or my students can read the transcript of the audio file that is also posted on my blog. This ensures that all of my students will be able to follow the instructions. Action and Expression: My students will be allowed to pick how they want to present their objects to the class. They will be allowed to hold the objects and tell their classmates about them, make a poster with the pictures of their objects on the poster, or they can make a PowerPoint of all of their objects. This allows all of my students to express what they have learned in a way that works best for them. Lesson idea implementation: This lesson will be completed outside of class. It is a homework assignment for my students to complete over the weekend. The homework assignment will be posted to my blog for the students to listen to and then complete the assignment. This lesson should only take approximately 30 minutes at home to complete. Student learning is addressed because they are finding objects in their everyday lives that are the same colors that they have been learning about. This lesson will extend student learning to a higher level because the students will then have the option to take pictures of their objects and bring them into class or they can bring their objects in. The students will also be able to present their objects in front of the class. After the students have completed their presentations, I would put all of their objects/pictures together and take a picture of them and upload it to my blog to thank the students and parents for finding the objects. Importance of technology: My blog is essential to this project because I am able to explain to my students what I want them to do and allow them and their parents to ask them questions if they have any. If the blog was not being used in this Summer 2017_SJB

Classroom Blog and Website Creation Tools lesson, then the parents and students might be confused as to what exactly the assignment is. Another piece of technology that might be used in this lesson would be a camera. If the students want to, they can take pictures of their objects and bring them into class instead of actually bringing all of the items in. Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Some parents might be concerned with their kindergarten child using the internet to complete the assignment because they are so young. I would let the parents know that the students have been taught in class that they are not allowed to use the internet without parent or adult supervision. The blog website that I’m using is also a safe and secure site, so I would ensure the parents that information about the students would not be released at all. I would make sure that they know that anything that pertains only to the class is password protected on my blog. As a teacher, I would adhere to the school’s Internet Safety Policies and other laws. No personal information about any of my students would be needed for any assignment they are asked to do online. Reflective Practice: This activity will impact student learning because they will be allowed to be creative. There are not really any rules for this assignment (besides the colors required to be represented) so they will have the opportunity to express themselves. This assignment will be used to let the students to showcase what all they know about their colors, and where they see these colors every day.
