Ramblings: Many Thanks We are knee deep in Vacation Bible School. The kids are having a great time. There is singing, dancing, crafts, games, Bible lessons, praying, and all around good times are being had by all. What impresses me most about this whole thing is the amount of work done by all the volunteers. There were sets to be created, crafts to be organized, snacks to be made, music to be learned, games to be figured out, and so much more. It all has gone off without a hitch. If you see any of the Vacation Bible School volunteers around the church, thank them for the great job they did for our kids. I also need to thank a few other people while I’m in the thanking mood. First off is Bob McCarty. Bob, thanks for filling in for me while I was out of town this past weekend. Everyone said what a great job you did on everything, even the children’s time. I knew I was leaving the store under good management. Second is Doug Koenig, who helped out by clearing some brush from the property before the VBS start. I’m sure he had some help, but he was the one I asked to do it and he stepped up without hesitation just like a true Scout. Third is Robert Hausler for getting the fence back up after the red barn was removed during work day. This was also a project that I’m sure he oversaw after agreeing to get it done, so I will also need to thank the people who helped him. Fourth is Janis Knuckols for leading our VBS again this year. It is an outstanding production and her organization and volunteer recruitment make it all run smoothly.

Fifth is Adriane Gray for staying on top of all the different trustee projects around the church. When we arrived back home on Sunday night the plumbing at the parsonage was messed up and she was able to get it fixed before 3 p.m. on Monday. Sixth is Allan Moody for his faithfulness to our church as he serves as treasurer. Allan has the hard job, he has to try to keep me back. I have the easiest job in the world. I get to dream and push people to stretch beyond themselves. Allan has the most thankless job at the church by having to be the voice of reason. Seventh is Misty Black for putting up with me for the last twenty years. I don’t think I have to elaborate much on that. Eighth is Debra Radowick who keeps everything going around here. Most of you have no idea how much trouble I would be in around the office (and the church in general) if it wasn’t for her faithful service. Ninth is… This was my problem. I started out without much to say today. I didn’t have a clue what to write and I really didn’t want to come to the office to write this column. What I found is that once I started thinking of all the things I was thankful for I ended up having a hard time stopping. There are numerous people who deserve to be thanked publicly for their service who aren’t listed here, there just isn’t room. This week, help me thank them. Spend some time being thankful and see how much better your week becomes. IGS, John
