Special!

Johny Baker 758-7654

Adam Faughn Lord.. Interestingly, it’s something we all need, so there’s something for each of us.

JD often reminds us that our young people at Lebanon Road are special. He’s right! I’m thankful we have many who pray for our young people often, and others invest a lot of time with our young people. The Bible has a lot to say to young people. Many of the great servants about whom we read in the Bible served as youths. Jeremiah, Mary, Josiah, David and others are specifically mentioned as being young as they served. Age—whether youthful or older—is no excuse to avoid service to the Lord. As we continue in the book of Titus this morning, we will notice that Paul wrote something to young people that should guide their lives in the

One of the great things young people do is invite and encourage. We need to follow their example! I know we’ve been “hit” with a lot of sickness lately, but our attendance has been down quite a bit. Let’s get back to work, never resting in our service. You know someone who needs to come to the Lord. Invite him or her today! We are so happy for Gavin and Rachel Hammers on the birth of their first child, Elias. The family went home Tuesday from the hospital, and all are doing

well. Several families have welcomed little ones recently, and for them we are so happy. May I give an encouragement to each person at Lebanon Road to be the right kind of influence on these precious treasures. It’s nearly pictorial directory time. Have you signed up for your time yet? We want 100% participation in the directory! There will be a table set up in the foyer before our services both this morning and tonight so you may get an appointment. Lebanon Road is special, but Christ is even more special. Tell someone about Him today!

Thank You... During our mother’s final stretch of her journey here on earth, she was so blessed to receive so many cards from her church family. There were even cards from the little ones. We, the family of Lucille Clanton, were blessed that so many people from her church family sent her cards wishing her well and letting her know that they were praying for her. Also, thank you for the birthday cards and for the flowers. Family of Lucy Clanton

JD’s Column Hello church family!

LEBANON ROAD SOUL SEEKERS This has been a very encouraging part of my work. There have been at least twenty (20) individuals in the Lebanon Road church to express and interest in door knocking. We had a meeting of fifteen (15) last Sunday afternoon to discuss the prospect of the work. It was decided by the group to meet Saturday morning March 21, 2009 (that will be this coming Saturday) at 9:00 a.m. to plan the particulars for best carrying out the operation. We plan our first day of canvassing to be Saturday April 4. This is in anticipation of getting to invite as many as possible to be here for worship on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. You do not have to be a trained experience “personal worker” or a professional “door knocker” to be a part of this group. We will need those who can knock doors, those who will go along for support and protection, those who want to learn the process and especially those young people who have attended Evangelism University the last five (5) or six (6) years. So, if you have a desire to be a part of this group and lend a hand to maybe saving the soul of one or more individuals then be here Saturday morning March 21, at 9:00 o’clock!! Unfortunately I did not get to go to the youth minister’s workshop in Columbia, TN this past weekend. I am sure it was a wonderful workshop. Hopefully I will be able to go next year! I am thankful for the kind words and especially the prayers many of you have extended to Maria’s mom. She is waiting for more test results to determine how to best treat her cancer. Please continue to pray diligently for the Tina Kersey and the whole family. Her address is 620 Meadow Road, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474 if you would like to send a card or encouraging word. Our first Bible Camp meeting last Sunday was a great success. We talked about the camp committees and decided on the theme for this year! Please consider how you can contribute to our camp this year. We want everyone to be involved! Our retreat is just around the corner! If you have not signed up to attend or help on Saturday, March 28, please do so as soon as possible! I want this to be a great weekend of work and spiritual growth; we need you to accomplish that! Also, don’t forget our youth intern, Chris LaFever, will be there! If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. Thank you very much! JD :)

Have You Seen _____ Lately? I guess that it happens in every congregation. See if this scenario looks familiar to you: A person or a family is not with the saints when they assemble one week at a particular congregation of God’s people. It is assumed that they must be out of town or something, because it is unusual for them to not meet with the local congregation to worship. Another week or two goes by and they are still missing. After about a month or so (or more), somebody asks the preacher, “Have you seen_____________ lately? The preacher informs the brother or sister that, yes indeed, he has seen them and/or talked with them and that they are now worshiping somewhere else or are not worshiping anywhere at all. There is shock and disappointment on the part of the one who has asked about _______________.

As the word gets around, people wonder what in the world could have happened and what could have been done to prevent this situation. May I offer one suggestion? Don’t depend on the elders or the preacher to do all of the “checking up” on individuals. Why not make it your responsibility (as well as the responsibility of the elders and preacher) to let people know that you care enough about them to let them know that they are being missed when they are not with us. Let me share with you one of my personal goals. It is just that; a goal. Unfortunately, I sometimes fail to meet the goal, but it is always before me and I honestly do try. It is one of my goals to make it impossible for any former member of the congregation to be able to say, “Well, I was gone for months and nobody ever checked on me. I guess

they didn’t care as much as they said they did.” How much of an impact would it have if every member of the local congregation would notice when somebody is not attending as they formerly did and made it a priority to live up to all of those “one another” passages in the New Testament? Why don’t we try to find out what that impact would be? Will you join me in setting a goal similar to mine? Will you make it a goal to never have to ask the ques-

tion, “Have you seen ___________lately?”
