HOMEWORK
Create three drawings that explore the power of a single object by depicting it from three different states of proximity: close, closer, and closest. The “closest” drawing should be so close that it is no longer easily recognizable. Choose your object with care--ideally it would be something of visual interest to you; something that you like; perhaps something having symbolic or personal meaning to you. Begin by doing a series of thumbnail sketches in your sketchbook (for all three drawings). All three final compositions must be the same dimension (ex. If you choose 5”x5” for one drawing, the other two must also be 5”x5”). Work ONLY from observation (no making things up! You MUST draw what you see!). Look carefully at proportions, shadows, and light. Each of the finished three drawings should be as realistic as possible.
