The concept of brotherhood is one of the fundamentals of Islam.as said in the holy Quran “The believers are but brothers, so make reconciliation between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy’ This concept was derived from Holy prophet(saw) after hijrat to medina The muhijirin were the people of mecca who migrated to medina on the order of holy prophet when the quraish increased their torture. They had to come to medina empty handed and had left all their possessions and property in Mecca.they had no source of income and were living a life in extreme poverty and hunger. The prophet therefore instituted a pact of faith. When the Holy Prophet (PBUH) arrived in Medina, he declared brotherhood between the Muhijirin and the Ansar in the house of Hazrat Anas ibn Malik. There were ninety men – half of them from the Muhijirin and half of them from the Ansar and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) declared brotherhood between them in charity , and made them to inherit from each other in case of the death of any of them, In two years, agreement ended when Muhajreen established their business but both of them always treated each other as brother.. God the Glorious praised this unique sincerity, hospitability, gratitude, generosity, and selfsacrifice which the Ansar showed to their immigrant brothers, declaring it in the following Quranic verse: “But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls, - they are the ones that achieve prosperity.”

Islamiyat Assignment Submitted by Zainab Shakil The arrangement made by Prophet Muhammad to bond the muhjaririn and ansar into one single brother is an ideal example of brotherhood for the Muslims to follow. Brotherhood between Muhajreen and Ansaar is an example of sacrifice for each other. According to a Hadith Muslims are “like a building of which each brick makes the other strong” This brotherhood increased the political strength of a community as the Aus., Khazraj and Muhajreen became an impregnable force. It also created a sense of self-respect because Muhajreen did not depend on Ansar’s and only in two years, they were earning enough and did not need Ansar’s help. One of the greatest blessings of Islam is its success in creating strong,warm,rich and durable bonds of love and brotherhood between human beings which no other religions has ever dreamed of. The entire world is a brotherhood of Allah’s people. With regard to brotherhood. Holy prophet said “A believer to another believer is like a building whose one part enforces the other part ” The brotherhood of Muslims is a very deep and wide concept that guarantees the safety and the wellbeing of the society at large” The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give charity and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have mercy upon them, for Allah is Almighty and Wise. “Holy prophet himself stressed upon the idea of brotherhood he said “The Muslims are like a single man. If the eye is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted. If the head is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted.” The feeling of brotherhood is an essential for unity.it shuts,turbulence, strife and dissension After the migration to Medina, Prophet (saw) took the first immediate decision of building the mosque. This shows that congregational prayer is a very important in the Muslim community. Mosque is not only a center of worship but it is also a place of social gathering where Muslims can solve their social problems. Most of the social problems were solved by the Prophet (saw) when he was present in the mosque. Even the political matters were discussed in the mosque. This promoted brotherhood amongst the Muslims. Mosque is also an education center where religious and worldly education may be obtained. Even the ladies used to get education in the mosque. They used to discuss their problems with the Prophet (saw) directly. All these practices were followed by the Prophet (saw) in his mosque. Azaan is a symbol of unity of the Muslims. It also invites us to come to mosque which is a place of peace and unity. Every word of Azaan is worth understanding which gives us the lesson to be answerable to God and be a good citizen The brotherhood gives us the lesson that Muslims should help the other Muslims in every possible way. In Muslim countries, poverty is common. In spite of different nationalities,

Besides financial help, Muslims should give protection to those Muslims who are facing persecution in their countries. Recently, the Muslims of Burma were not even able to find a land where they could settle. In these conditions, it is the responsibility of the entire Muslim community and their governments to help their Muslim brothers. We can promote brotherhood amongst the community for the sake of Allah and having a pure heart and should do good deeds and should teach others to do good deeds and set an example of our character in the community, we should pay zakat and help the poor and needy people.
