Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that continues to enhance Taller’s image and position locally, regionally and nationally. • Monitor trends and developments in the social media, marketing, communications and public relations fields, [and the specific business of Taller] and use this information to strategically help the organization operate with initiative and innovation to effectively position it. • Build, cultivate and maintain relations with the media, community, and other publics. • Serve as the organization’s spokesperson. • Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events. • Manage the development of publications, and write content for all marketing materials including social media sites, website, presentations, brochures, newsletters, press releases, media advisories and other materials. • Provide public relations counsel to executive director, senior staff, other staff and volunteers to: o ensure consistent messaging; o develop and maintain a strategic perspective to ensure the overall health and vitality of Taller. • Develop and coordinate feedback mechanisms designed to seek regular input from key constituencies regarding the quality of programs and services and Taller’s relevance. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Established a Public Relations and Marketing Department o Developed and implemented Communications Policy and currently working on a Social Media Policy that will be utilized by all staff and volunteers. •

Branding o Managed the creation of an enhanced corporate identity. The planning included research, negation and presentations to a variety of stakeholders and the inclusion of stakeholders as co-managers of the Taller Puertorriqueño brand. This process resulted in a smoother transition and a better overall product. The new logo, website, brochure and other materials were launched during a member reception at Philadelphia City Hall.



Event Planning

o Produced the Feria del Barrio festival. For the past three years, the festival has

grown, resulting in increased attendance from 5,000 in 2005 to approximately 15,000 in 2009, and increased sponsors, vendors and other exhibitors. o Established successful partnerships with media outlets that have resulted in bringing Grammy- nominated Latino artists with out increasing program expenses. o Successfully established and produced annual member reception that aided in a 60 percent increase in membership.



Negotiation

o Secured strategic partnerships and contractual agreements with various

organizations and media outlets including Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Greater Philadelphia Marketing and Tourism Association, Philadelphia Bar Association, La Mega Radio Station, WFMZ Channel 69 and Univision 65, among others, which have resulted in organizational savings and more than $100,000 in free advertising.



E-Marketing/Social Media o Expanded the ability for people to experience Taller and engage in its various programs and activities by making social media an integral part of the public relations/marketing department. In the past six months, we receive an average of 40 friend requests per week on Facebook. o Established a Young Friends of Taller group and have hired a part-time college student to aide in the management of social sites such as Facebook and Twitter. o Reduced organizational expenses by developing a quarterly e-newsletter entitled ENTERaRTE News from Taller Puertorriqueño. o Developed a Join our Mailing List button our website and allow people to learn more about the organization, make online donations/reservations and more which has increased online donations.
