FOR YOUTH ONLY!!! Message from the YIFI President and Youth Idol Season 2 Being a youth nowadays can be considered as a great task for every young man in our soci ety. This is because there are some who consider youth as a destroyer in their places. And it is now your task, young people, to change that kind of thinking that people use to believe. Yes, it is true that we are still young to do something different in our community. It is really hard to do great things which can help our places to improve, and the hardest one is the stage of planning a certain goal or activity that will create an impact. But have you already try to do such thing? Or have you ever think once in your life that you can help improve your community most especially your fellow youth? ‘There is no harm in trying.’ Do you know that by just showing your simple care to your society, you can create a good foundation for your intention to help improve your place? And do you know that through that good intention of yours, God is the only one who was so pleased? The Bible says, “We please God by what we do, and not by what you believe.” from book of James 2:24, and “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are wise, who want to please God.”—Psalm 14:2. God has emotion too, and bringing pleasure to Him is a form of worship, which can bring you into your success. You cannot see your intention of changing the bad image of youth if you will not begin planning and moving right now. We can not erase the fact that not all people are born to be leaders; some are made to be leaders, and some are destined to be a follower—but whoever in this three, you still do a great role to be played for the positive changes for your community. As a young
leader, whether you are born or made to be like that, you must put on your mind and most especially on your heart that you are in that position because majority likes you. You must be setting your self as a good example, and you must be mature enough to handle your fellow youth and you must also con sider not only your plans but also those that your constituent makes them happy and contented. And the most special thing that you must consider as a young leader is the good interaction or PAKIKISAMA, which will mold you into a good leadership. On the contrary, being a good follower will complete that success of a certain goal. A good member should consider his/herself in a certain group. Discriminating yourself doesn’t help you to the goal of your organization. You must participate in every side of your program. You are not born to be a nonsense individual. God created every humankind fairly, and it is your task to motivate your self how to be an effective individual. I know that every youth wants to be called “ASTIG” in every aspect of their lives. But I want to emphasize that being “PASAWAY” or making silly thing is not a form of being ASTIG. The greatest way to be that way is to create a positive change and impact in your society, and always impress and dedicate your plans to God; that is the meaning of being ASTIG. Always remember the verse “Don’t let any one look down on you because you are young, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” 1Timothy 4:12

Our special thanks to: “Yes! I made it”… I have reaped the sweet triumph of my labors in getting my magnanimous goal to be called as the next Youth Idol.” Beyond the pile of books that I am reading, behind those times in burning the midnight oil, I have known that there is a hidden talent of mine and yet there is on another side of Jeffrey D. Domingo. It was that time when I am busy working in our cam pus Journalism but in an of a sudden I did not notice that I’m already standing in front of 3 popular personalities here in our town. One who was crowned as Miss Anao, an energetic youth and at the same time an SK chairman in their barangay, last but not the least a band master, I have a terrible feeling when I took the stage by singing,
defending or explaining. My mind was confused if, I can truly pass in this guest but my heart is full of hope that I can make it. It is a very shocking news that I am one of the finalists in the Youth Idol. my whole body was filled with joy, excitement, and doubts
because of the fact that I am a student who spends my time more on academic ac tivities but finally, I have come out on my shell and shine! I have learned a lot in this quest. Every success Turn to page…..10

Youth Idol Season2 Fever ….from 1 It is composed of 10 ministries and committees. Each ministry has a major program every year. Its official newsletter is YEEFEE. They also have a website where they share their activities to their fellow YIFI as well as other youth organizations. They were blessed because they were able to join the search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organiza tion (TAYO) and it is through God’s grace that they made it to Top 10 in Luzon. The said program is a search for young ambassadors who can be role models for this generation. It is also an advo cacy program to unite the differ ent youth sectors in this 5 th class municipality in Tarlac. Through wholehearted cooperation and invaluable support of youth leaders, the program was made possible in partnership with different organizations such as the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF), Supreme Student Government (SSG) and Junior Local Government Unit (JLGU) of Anao High School, Anao Riders Club (ARC) and Pagasa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP). Youth Idol is divided into Juvenile Rejuvenation Program for kids and other social welfare activi ties, the Environmental Pro grams (Youth Initiatives against Global Warming, eg. Tree Plant ing, MiniExhibit: Animals in Danger and Miss Ecology), Youth Empowerment (leadership training, young leaders’ conver gence) and Performing Arts Development (singing, dancing hiphop, ballroom, jazz, and theatre acting). The final’s night showcased
the candidates in jawdropping musical and dance perform ances as well as in their Sports Wear and Retro Walk. The kids’ ministry also trained kids to do a fantastic production number in their environmental creature costumes with the song entitled Paraiso sung by two bright song birdies Danna Mie Aliado and Alysa Magbitang. It is also during the Youth Idol season that we feature remarkable and notable person alities who are active youth leaders during their time. Even if Anao is just a 5 th class municipality, it is not left behind in terms of human devel opment. It may lack the technol ogy but young leaders really want to step out from their com fort zones to make a difference and eventually become progres sive soon. This Youth Idol program became a gateway for open communication and dialog be tween youth organizations in the town. The walls that divide the youth because of religious differ ences were minimized because of the goal of Youth Idol which is to unite every youth in our soci ety. We based the theme of Youth Idol from 1 Timothy 4:12, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity".
·In speech on how we say words of encouragement
·In life on how we live by ex amples
·In love on how we give love and how compassionate we are
to our fellow brothers and sisters
·In faith on how we respond to God’s call and on how we hold on to the assurance of our hopes and dreams
·In purity in terms of not having bad vices and all kinds of immor ality It is the goal of Youth Idol to strengthen the relationships between youth leaders and every young individual in our town. The organization believes that they have to energize the youth in order for them to be soon partners in nationbuilding and for the advancement of our society. The program also wants to instill social consciousness and moral reawakening not only to the finalists but also to other participants and even the organ izers themselves. The program also aims to redefine activism that it is not only seen in streets but also includes participation and involvement in addressing the problems and ills of our society. This is not just an ordi nary talent search because one of its motives is that the youth will have a shifting from involve ment in bad vices to enhance ment and development of talent. This noble project is really design to mold and to craft a servant leader’s heart. It’s al ready a cliché we’ve been say ing ever since in grade school that “ang kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan” (the youth is the hope of the future). But cliché as it may seem, that statement now holds true because we are now the hope of the present. The time has come to stand for what we believe in many years ago. It is now the time to be a hope for our country. Arise young genera tion!

Though the YIFI did not make it to the National Finals on December, it was really such an honor to be one of the Top 10 or ganizations in Luzon which means that the org is already one of the country’s top 40, together with the top 10 orgs each from Visayas, Mindanao and NCR. According to the YIFI rep, “it is only by the grace of God that we have been able to make it to Luzon’s top 10, not because we are great and talented, but it’s all because of God. He made the organization very suc cessful and He really empowered the mem bers to create such projects and to be instru ments of His wonderful plans for the church and for our country”.

Environmentality: Youth’s initiatives against global warming By: Maria Kristina Barroga Environmentality is a way of thinking concerning the equilibrium of the ecosystem as well as how to protect our nature and how to combat ecodisturbances such as pollu tions which lead to the abnormal warming of our environment. The Youth Idols, together with some other youth organizations in Anao proved that they have this kind of mental power. As a quick response to the call or shall I say WAIL of our Mother Nature. These young pips gathered last October 28, 2008 to start the cure through tree planting. This activity aims to empower the advocacy of the young generation in alleviating the effects of GLOBAL WARMING. Superficially, this task was Youth Idol prejudging activity.
Vol. 2 Issue 4 It was misty morning when they started to walk to the site near the white tombs of Anao Public Cemetery, carrying their tree guards, pegs, simple tools and mahogany seedlings. Nearly 7:30 A.M., when at last the sun blasted onto the eastern horizon and energized the youth. Mrs. Tessie C. Qui mado, Adviser on Internal Affairs of YIFI guided these youngsters and also judged the 12 Youth Idol as part of prejudging. The San guniang Kabataang Federation (SKF), Stu dent Supreme Government (SSG), Junior Local Government Unit (JLGU), Youth of Iglesia Filipina Independiente (YIFI) and other youth of Anao participated in this cool est activity. Wanna be in and be COOLANTS in this warming globe. Start in your own houses on how to manage your waste. You can also choose a site which is ideal for tree planting and we will join you.

“Yes! I Made It!…..from 4 and failure in to every activity makes me feel that I am riding on a roller coaster. Instead of being frightened by the comments, mistake I stand of and think that there are always bright morning waiting to welcome me… I appreciated YIFI very much for directing and teaching me the right path to take. Moreover, they serve as an instrument to prove my motto “Time is not a gold but more than a gold”. They enhanced my skills and selfconfidence. They influenced me on how to be a true youth of today and tomor row. The leadership seminar and AYLC have helped me very much in capturing the knowl edge of an effective leader. I have got many dirts on my hands and I am proud of it because I shared my love and coop eration with the mother
nature. I have realized how youth of today can save his/her own country. By this search, I have felt the over flowing love of my “Best Parents” because even though we have nothing at first it is a miracle that we won. Their unending support is one of the best I have ever got. Sometimes, I’d like to cry because of the obstacles on my way but I know and I know that God is just in my side to give the light of strength that I need. Yes I made… Yes I made it… and it is great honor and challenge to prove that I deserve to be called as the Youth Idol.
