85 % of the students in Balubad, Elementary School have Dental Cavities.

Dental Cavities or Caries affects children at all ages. The development of dental caries requires fermentable carbohydrate, bacteria and a susceptible tooth. The presence of sugar or total carbohydrates, frequency of eating and retentiveness of the food to the teeth are determining factors in the formation of dental caries. These influence the length of time that the teeth is exposed to an acidic environment that leads to tooth decay. Fluoride is the single most effective factor in caries prevention. Dietary management is an important and eefctive approach to control dental caries. Good dental health is more likely when families buy cariogenic foods, provide routine eating schedules, encourage daily oral hygiene and schedule routine dental examination.
