Women’s Sports Foundation A Force For Change… •

In 1974, Billie Jean King established the Women’s Sports Foundation – a charitable organization that advocates for gender equality in sports and encourage girls to get on the field. GoGirlGo! – Our campaign to get 1 million inactive girls active and prevent another 1 million girls from dropping out of sports Among the top 5 U.S. public grant-making women’s funds GoGirlGo! Curriculum Program was selected as a gold award winner in the 2004 and 2006 annual National Health Information Awards recognizing the nation’s best health information programs Research and positions generate 1.5 billion media impressions annually Our website receives over 9 million hits a month and we have a monthly distribution list of over 22,000 passionate women’s sports supporters

Girls do not receive the same encouragement, opportunities or support to participate in sports as boys High school boys receive 40% more chances to play varsity sports than girls

If a girl does not participate in sports by the time she is 10, there is only a 10% chance she will participate when she is 25
