Main characters and minor characters are have similarities and differences that form their relationship to the main character. In the book the Great Gatsby, Gatsby being the main character and Nick being the minor character creates their relationship. Nick is telling this story of meeting gatsby and being his friend the whole book, From his point of view it shows his relationship with Gatsby and how he viewed him. Also Daisy his lover in the book affects him as a character and shows his weaknesses and strengths. Nick moves into the little home right next to Gatsby’s mansion, this shows a difference between Gatsby and Nick because it shows Gatsby has money and Nick does not. Having less or more money did not cause problems or jealousy between them because Gatsby included Nick in everything he did. For Gatsby having nick with him by his side made him more confident as a person because without Nick he would have never talked to daisy ever again, Daisy met Gatsby for the first time at Nicks little house instead of his mansion. Daisy was a weakness to Gatsby in many ways. That was the only girl he wanted and loved, he bought the mansion right across the water from Daisy's mansion. Nick sees gatsby and how he feels towards daisy so Nick tries to be there for Gatsby and be his strength. Daisy never seen gatsby after he went to war, so she moved on with her life marrying Tom. This was one of Daisy’s actions the weekend Gatsby also. As a result he would throw huge parties hoping Daisy would show up. These parties being meant to see the girl he loved so much and buying this house shows his desperation to be with daisy, showing she makes him do big things just for her as she is his weakness. Once Daisy showed Gatsby love she turned into his strength to keep fighting for his happiness against Tom with her. Gatsby relied on Nick with these things going on because Nick kept him company, he made Gatsby feel not alone like he had someone to talk to. In a way Gatsby changed nick as a character bringing him into the more money and partying life. Nick seemed to always have a great time with Gatsby driving in his extravagant yellow car, Parties at Gatsby's house, Going to the city with Gatsby. Nick was open to this crazy lifestyle Gatsby had. Both Gatsby and Nick learned a lot from each other and helped each other

grow throughout the book as characters that's what forms this bond between a minor character and a main character. Daisy was indecisive between Tom and Gatsby, she loved Gatsby a lot and wanted to be with him but Tom won her over. This hurt gatsby his weakness turned into pain. Daisy was negative to him making Gatsby feel as if everything he did for her was for nothing. Nick didn't see Gatsby after that as if he knew that Gatsby was shut down and weakened by Daisy's actions. Daisy’s actions are so crazy that she ran a women over taking the wheel from gatsby and Gatsby took the blame for her. And for the he paid the price of getting killed for daisy's actions. Daisy made Gatsby do things that were not right or were making him crazy. The difference between Nick and Daisy was that daisy was a negative weakness to Gatsby while Nick was a positive strength to Gatsby. Both characters impacted him in different ways it did not change that Gatsby was good to both of them he was a good friend to Nick and did what he could for daisy.
