Aldhelm’s injuries have left him permanently disabled and as a result he has lost the use of many skills and talents but still retains the knowledge of how to perform all of his skills and talents along with the ability to train others. Aldhelm has lost the use of all Skills and Talent highlighted in Blue. Personality / History: Aldhelm Ehrestücke began life as a privileged nobleman before joining the Imperial Pistoliers. Handsome, witty and charming, Aldhelm was an excellent horseman, a noted dead shot with the pistol but where he truly excelled was in the art of fencing, Aldhelm was the star pupil of master fencing instructor Inigo Montoya and became a well known and celebrated duellist. Every inch the dashing young Calvary officer. At an early age Aldhelm was marked for great things by both his fellows and his superiors. Aldhelm was taken on as a junior officer by General Broder Gutzmann at the age of 18 and stationed at an imperial fort guarding the volatile Border Princes. Aldhelm quickly lived up to his potential and was promoted to Captain by the time he was 22 and was a senior officer at the age of 25. Disaster struck Aldhelm when he was 27 after successfully masterminding the destruction of rebellious Border Prince Count Ludwig Prätendent army which included killing the Count in an embarrassingly one sided duel. Aldhelm was returning to the fort with only a light escort when he was ambushed by Lukus Prätendent the vengeful younger brother of the deposed Count, despite putting up a spirited defence the Imperial forces were surprised as well as vastly outnumbered and Aldhelm was captured. Lukas however had no intention of killing his brothers enemy, Lukas had a far worse fate in store for the dashing duellist. Aldhelm was subjected to weeks of torture his perfect white teeth were chiselled away every other tooth was broken to leave no two teeth that met. His body and arms were cut and burned, his dancers legs were smashed at the knee and worst of all Aldhelm’s hands were broken every joint of every finger was snapped and then Aldhelm was finally beaten one last time before being dumped back outside the Imperial fort. The army physicians saved his life but claimed that Aldhelm would never walk, ride or fight again. The shattered officer was discharged from the army and sent home to his family estate outside of Altdorf. Aldhelm defied the physicians he would not live as a cripple within the year Aldhelm was walking again albeit with the aid of a cane. His hands although nowhere near as nimble or skilled as they once were have recovered enough for him to write and generally use, Aldhelm never fences publicly any more despite privately practicing everyday his skills remain pitiful in his eyes. 18 months after Aldhelm’s injuries he applied to become a Witch Hunter, as a noble son of the empire with a glorious military background he was excepted despite his physical ailments. Aldhelm has become bitter and twisted the charming nobleman is gone, wit and humour replaced by sarcasm he now fosters a hatred for arrogant young nobles especially talented swordsmen but he reserves a special loathing for the merchant classes “jumped up market traders mimicking the true nobility”. Aldhelm has a unique insight into the arts of torture and knows exactly when a prisoner is ready to crack. Aldhelm is not well liked by the priesthood or even by other Witch Hunters nor are his notorious methods of gaining information and confessions but nobody can argue with his results Aldhelm maintains his position by always getting his man and unlike many of his fellows Aldhelm always has ironclad proof to back up his accusations. Unlike many Witch Hunter’s Aldhelm does not confine his investigations to heretics anyone breaking any law may come to his attention,

NPC Witch Hunters Aldhelm will never punish someone unless he is totally sure that they are guilty of some crime. However once guilt has been established Aldhelm is not particular about what crime the accused is sentenced for. A recent example would be Aldhelm’s investigation of Altdorf merchant Olaf Hirschmann a man guilty of tax evasion and smuggling but convicted of Heresy and Witchcraft and subsequently burned at the stake. Aldhelm employs two permanent assistants Wolfgang Leiden and Ulrich Leerefolter, Aldhelm also retains several Bounty Hunters most notably Kurt Wolke, Bruno Qual, Kasper Listig and Dietrich Kreis. Aldhelm’s assistants are extremely loyal and are trusted by Aldhelm as far as a Witch Hunter trusts anyone the Bounty Hunters are only as loyal as their next pay check.

Personality / History: Wolfgang Leiden is not insane and unlike most people he has a carefully preserved certificate signed by one Doktor Felix Kahn ( just before Wolfgang slit his throat ) to prove his sanity. Wolfgang often appears to be irrational this is all an act Wolfgang knows exactly what he is doing all the time, he just likes to scare people by acting like a maniac. Wolfgang is Aldhelm’s most trusted agent he often acts as Spy and Assassin. Wolfgang likes to con and trick people, he adopts a number of personas to accomplish his tasks, Wolfgang is a superb painter and an excellent musician, his most used characters are that of artist “ Leonhard Weltnall ” and “ Magnus Faulheit ” a useless yet wealthy young noble. In the guise of Leonhard, Wolfgang has gained access to many of the great houses of Altdorf as his high quality artwork has become fashionable recently, Wolfgang uses this time to search the houses of the great and mighty and as a result he has found many “secrets” of the wealthy and successful all of which is then passed to Witch Hunter Aldhelm Ehrestücke. “Magnus Faulheit” can be found Page 4
NPC Witch Hunters at many important social gatherings again spying on behalf of his Witch Hunter master. If encountered “out of character” Wolfgang will most likely be wearing an interrogators hood to conceal his features, when wearing the hood he often paints his face in a bizarre manner as he has found that revealing his painted appearance deeply unsettles suspects during questioning. Another favourite trick of Wolfgang’s is to carry a bunch of flowers with a poisoned dagger hidden amongst them, when instructed to “give him/her the flowers” by Aldhelm it is their signal for Wolfgang to murder the target.

Personality / History: Kasper is a former marine he cut his teeth fighting pirates and moved on to bounty hunting after a large bounty was posted for every member of the Red Slash pirate gang, as Kasper had fought them a dozen times before it seemed like a good idea for him and his fellows to collect and he has never looked back. Kasper is the typical ex-sailor full of tall tales and nautical phrases. For all that Kasper is a cautious and cunning hunter, not to be taken lightly although Kasper is no coward he does not like to risk himself unless he needs to, Kasper often hires cheap local muscle to back him up.

Dietrich only participates in Aldhelm’s supernatural investigations he has no interest in ordinary criminal activities.
