About This Month’s Cover This photograph is so representative of Harbour Town Yacht Basin, not just during the Verizon’s Heritage Classic, but throughout the seasons. Magnificent yachts make their way into the harbour to enjoy the variety of shops, restaurants, watersports activities and the ambiance of this world famous harbour. The stately lighthouse with its history displayed on the walls as you climb the steps to the top. The Top of the Lighthouse shop and the viewing area all around are not to be missed while you are so close. Glen McCaskey, the photographer, is a master of scenic shots such as this. Look for more of his work at The Top of the Lighthouse. See you at the top.

11am until, Mon-Sat 843-785-2466 Serving all day 24F Palmetto Bay Road ALCOHOL, SPEED LIMITS AND THE LAW A word of concern from WHERE TO GO. We care about you and your safety. There is nothing pleasant about spending your vacation in the Beaufort County Jail. They are nice folks over there, but there is no “Happy Hour” (and they do not accept VISA or MasterCard) In fact, we can almost guarantee you will NOT have a good time. DUI’s go directly to jail. They do cross the bridge, but they do NOT collect $200. In fact, you may end up paying that amount. And SC law prohibits open containers of any alcoholic beverages in the passenger section of your car. Judge Rita Simmons, is very personable, but you do not want to see her in court. The speed limit on the Island is 45 mph with 35 posted in many areas. Our Law Enforcement team is very effective so do not exceed the limit. Believe me, they do not want to “make your day.” The speed limit coming onto the Island is 55 mph TOPS. It’s 45 at the foot of the bridge and they mean it! Watch it on the Cross Island Expressway, and especially on Palmetto Bay Rd. Unmarked Thunderbirds are watching for you and their sole reason for existence is writing tickets. It would be smart not to mix boating & alcohol. The Beaufort County Marine Patrol may be watching you. Be smart & safe. And watch those no wake zones.

BAR AND LIQUOR LAWS Package stores are identified by the red dot. They close at 7:00 p.m. Mon-Sat. Closed on Sunday. You may buy an alcoholic beverage Sundays in most restaurants serving food. Beer & wine are available Sundays at the grocery stores. An ordinance prohibits alcohol on the beach!
