Where Do Sparrows Go Where do sparrows go to die? They are so joyful and so resolute About their lives. In six months They are gone. Have they been taken To some ritual in the sky? I look about the ground from place to place Yet never see a trace of feather. Yet I must also go without a face Into states I cannot yet conceive. Chained and broken to a mortuary wagon, Into darkness unimagined. My hope is that when throwing off all things, I shall be met by twittering of wings.
