What is Area 51?

For example, people suppose that the government might have used it to house crashed UFOs and do lab tests on aliens. Other theories about Area 51 is that the government could have researched on time travel, or maybe have studied about teleportation, or some more amazing how that the government might have had to meetings with extraterrestrials, I am pretty sure that is to get information about them.
