Welcome to Strasbou rg This is the a preliminary travel plan and prepared specially for your 4 days trip to Strasbourg, The first rule of travel is to make yourself feel at home and enjoy your time in Strasbourg. This 4 days plan is just a concept plan and please advises me if you want to change any destination and time. So please sit down enjoy the travel plan. Have a safe journey to Strasbourg

Feeling home at Strasbourg

Welcome to Strasbourg is the capital and principal city of the Alsace region in northeastern France, with approximately 650,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area in 1999. Located close to the border with Germany, it is the préfecture (capital) of the Bas-Rhin Strasbourg is the seat of, among other things, the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Ombudsman, the Eurocorps, the European Audiovisual Observatory, and, most famously, the European Parliament, although sessions are also held in Brussels. Strasbourg is an important center of manufacturing and engineering, as well as of road, rail, and river communications. The port of Strasbourg is the second largest on the Rhine after Duisburg, Germany. The city is the seat of the Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine. Strasbourg's historic center, the Grande Île ("Grand Island"), was classified a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988, the first time such an honor was placed on an entire city center.

History At the site of Strasbourg, the Romans established a military outpost and named it Argentoratum. It belonged to the Germania Superior Roman province. The name was first mentioned in the year 12 BC; the city celebrated its 2,000th birthday in 1988. From the 4th century, Strasbourg was the seat of the Archbishopric of Strasbourg.

The Strasbourg Cathedral, begun in the 12th century, was completed in 1439 (though the south tower remains unfinished) and became the World's Tallest Building, surpassing the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Day 1 28th April 2007 (Saturday) KEHL- HOSTEL – PLACE DE CATHEDRAL – RIVER CRUISE – PLACE BROGLIE/PLACE KLEBER- MUSEE DE STRASBOURG – PETIT FRANCE – OBSERVETOIRE - HOSTEL Welcome to Strasbourg, however since I recommend you to take the BadenWürttemberg Weekend ticket (Cost EU 18). We will meet up at a German City called Kehl. Kehl is a town in southwestern Germany in Baden-Württemberg. It is located at the river Rhine, directly opposite to Strasbourg. Upon meeting in the train station in Kehl , we will then take a bus to Strasbourg and upon reaching Strasbourg , we will go to the hostel or my house where a nice room will be prepared. Once we put our luggage, we will tour around the beautiful city of Strasbourg First stop, Strasbourg Cathedral where we will visit view and see the Strasbourg downtown, and then we will take a boat tour along the river to see the Strasbourg as a whole along the canal. Upon completing our boat cruise, we will take a walk along the French area of Strasbourg Place Broglie and Place Kleber and we might visit a home of my friends to see what is inside the house of a typical Alsatian home. Then, we will stroll to a Museum Musee De Strasbourg to see the Alsatian Life. Then we will have a weekend make our walk towards place Broglie, Place Kleber and we will end our tour in Petit France , where will have a wonderful dinner overlooking the river and after dinner we will walk along the canal to enjoy the marvelous night view of Strasbourg to the Local Observatories to see the Planets Venus, Saturn and etc. After seeing the stars and Planet we will make our way back home to rest for a big day the next day. (Optional ; Watch Howl Moving Castle HOSTEL or HOME )

Day 2 29th (Sunday) HOME

–STRASBOURG-COLMAR-SELETSTAT (haut koenigsbourg)– SELESTAT – STRASBOURG-UNIVERSITY PARKCONCERT MUSIC - HOME

Wake up and shine and rise on beautiful day, we will leave early for the beautiful village of Colmar, where Howl Moving Castle, we will visit the areas where is inspired the drawing of Colmar and visit cathedral and museum in Colmar inside the city of Colmar, Once we finish our trip to colmar, we will make to the next town called Selestat where a bus will take us to our next journey is to get to Selestat and take a bus to haut koenigsbourg, there we will walk and tour the castle and enjoy the magnificent view of the Alsatian Wine area. And upon finishing our tour in haut koenigsbourg . We will return back to Selestat and take a small tour around the traditional village of and take a look at the traditional village of seletsat, before taking a train back to Strasbourg, if times permit we will also might drop by in the garden in University to stroll along the evening and have dinner at a Japanese Restaurant .If we have time we might drop by at a local concert to see live music performance. Before heading home to retire for the night.

Day 3 30th April 2007 (Monday) Home –ISU – Shopping Time – ERASMUS PARTY / CINEMA– Home Today is an ISU day, as I have meeting at 9 a.m. I would reconfirm whether you would be allowed to come and sit at the meeting as an observant for the purpose is to see how ISU students works and handle big projects. This will give an overview, How working and studying in ISU is . Next I will introduce a JAXA professor Dr.

Yoshiki Morino and introduce a chat with Dr. Morino and maybe a lunch with Dr. Morino to talk in details about ISU I will confirm whether Dr. Chiaki Mukai will be free to join the discussion. The After Lunch activities there there is 2 Option , one is to join a mini exercise in our group projects which is to facilitate a small part in our team project which is to critique and comments on the development of our group Executive Summary. The second option is to enjoy a free time in downtown Strasbourg , where you can buy souvenirs and gifts for your friends back in Germany and Japan. We will then meet again at downtown for a dinner at Tartee Flambee “All you Can Eat Restaurant” . After dinner, there is two option, one is to head down to European Erasmus student party in a club where you will listen and dance to European Music or if dancing and club is not preferred we can watch an evening movie after our evening entertainment after that we will

Day 4 1st May 2007 (Tuesday ) HOME FRIEDISCHAFEN

–STRASBOURG-MOLSHEIM-STRASBOURG-HOME-KEHL-

The final day is an optional day. However if you still wish to see more of Alsace, Today we could go for a cycling trip. We could cycle to a small beautiful city called Molsheim where is the birthplace of A powerful car called Bugatti, if it is not shiny we will take the bicycle, if it is raining we will take the train. Either way , we could visit this small Alsatian village. We will have lunch and could buy local white wine to drink together, after seeing the beautiful village, we return to Strasbourg where we will pack your bags and make our way to KEHL where you will bring a wonderful memories of Strasbourg and Alsace back home with you .
