Water Harvesting • A very important propertyof water is

that it dissolves almost everything in it.everyday we use water for drinking,cooking and cleaning etc.Three –fourth of the earth’s surface is occupied by the oceans which contain about 97.5% of the earth’s watre in strongly saline condition. The rest 2.5%is fresh water.

Methods • The following methods should be adopted for water • • • • •

harvesting:Rainwater can be collected in small ponds. Water should be supplied to the area with little rainfall or deserts through canals from areas with heavy rainfall. Water should be recycled and used for irrigation of crops. Excessive use of water should be prohibited. Attempts should be made to use sea water after proper treatment.
