IMPORTANT DATES: PATROL UPDATE The first School Patrol reward event has been scheduled for Thursday, December 17. Patrols will be going bowling at White Bear Lake Bowl from 1:00 – 3:00pm. All patrols need to return their permission form and payment before they can sign up for a lane with their friends. We are requesting that they do not bring extra money to spend that day for food or arcade games. We appreciate your support with this.

White Bear Lake Lion’s Club Toy Collection The White Bear Lions Club is sponsoring a toy drive for Christmas presents for children ages 2 months to 18 years. The toys collected will be distributed right here in the White Bear Lake area to families who are in need. Please remember as you start your holiday shopping there are children whose Christmas holiday could be brighter with your help. It’s a great time to demonstrate our IBO attitudes of service, empathy and respect. Please remember the toy/gift needs to be new and unwrapped. Thank you for your generosity.
CLASS NEWS WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? In math, we continued working with decimals. Students reviewed and practiced comparing decimals. We also learned that we need to line up the decimal point when adding or subtracting decimal numbers. We also worked on reading large numbers – all the way to the billions! In our new IB planner, students are focusing their inquiry on Agents of Changes. The central idea of this planner is that individuals have made contributions through language and the arts. This week we learned what an Agent of Change is and discussed what a contribution is. Students learned about Leonardo DaVinci and Martin Luther King, Jr. Students will be introduced to the summative assessment task for this unit early next week. In literacy, we read a story about Mae Jemison, who was the first African American in space. We practiced finding the main ideas as we read and also worked on our comprehension. Our spelling words this week focused on three different types of compound words. We are continuing to work on demonstrating the IB learner profiles and attitudes. I appreciate how open-minded and respectful students were to our substitute teacher when I was out of the classroom on Monday and Tuesday this week. Great job!
Learning about countries during Spanish CONFERENCES UPDATE I would like to thank all families that attended conferences last week. I was very pleased to meet with you and appreciate all of your support at home! CONTACT INFORMATION:
WEATHER Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for winter – coat, hat, and mittens are a must! Don’t forget boots and snow pants when needed. Many students have Patrol Duty outside and need to be prepared for any and all types of weather.
