ANN PACKER Novelist Ann Packer Discusses Her Book
'Songs Without Words' Thursday October 9, 2008: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room Ann Packer’s debut novel, "The Dive from Clausen’s Pier," was a nationwide best seller that established her as a gifted chronicler of the interior lives of women. Her second novel, "Songs Without Words," explores the lifelong friendship of two women, the confining roles we sometimes take upon ourselves, and the deep connection in a friendship that is pushed to the breaking point. Ann will discuss the novel, recently released in paperback. A book igning will follow with books for sale courtesy of Shaman Drum Bookshop, osponsor of this event.
Ann Packer received the Great Lakes Book Award for "The Dive from Clausen’s Pier," and is a past recipient of a James Michener award and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. Her fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, Ploughshares, and other magazines, as well as in "Prize Stories 1992: The O. Henry Awards." She is the author of "Mendocino and Other Stories."
