My name is Patricia Catalán Carrasco, I took my VISE in Colegio Saint Michael in Reñaca Alto, Viña del Mar. I could worked with two teacher’s of English in also two different grades, 2° and 4° grade. My experience was different in both grades, obviously because the kids, but specially because the teachers. In first place I can say that my experience with the 4th grade was a little more complicated in the beginning, the teacher was also a student of English, and the relationship between us was so cold, and that made me feel very stranger in the classroom, so sometimes I didn’t know how to act in every class. Once, Fernando Pérez, who it was a very stubborn student, after some activity, he started talking and playing with his partner some games in their notebook, but the teacher didn’t like that, so, she started yelling and finally she called the inspector of the school and sent Fernando out!. Few minutes later, he came into the classroom for collect money, and the teacher sent him out again, because she said that he was punished and that means that he couldn’t be in the classroom while she was there. My questions are; Why some attitude so normal, like after a activity start playing can become some kind of fight or argue between the teacher and the student?, maybe that can sound very weird but sometimes when only a group of students finished the work they can talk and play in their place, so, I didn’t understand why the teacher didn’t allowed this, I think that maybe in little grades, kids need some fun an not only activities, maybe like this they will be have more disposition in learn the language, or any other kind of knowledge. Why sometimes teacher judge students and can have a neutral attitude?. I know that the relationship teacher-student is created for they both, but I think that teacher, in their authority, can influence and change the disposition of the child. Maybe sometimes kids need some kind of punishment, but following the role of teacher, not taking that like something personal, they have make the difference. Why teach some foreign language, specially English is so complicated?. My point of view is that teachers also have to show to the students that English is necessary, that in the future they will need it, students have to understand that if they pay attention and show some curiosity about the language, the class maybe will be easy and funny. Not all will be difficult and boring if we try and open our mind.
