Staff Engineer, HW Dev.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading the development of the next generation of samplehandling robots for Varian NMR systems, as well as providing engineering support for existing automated sample-handling systems. Responsible for project definition, planning and execution from concept through production. Work with external vendors and internal engineering resources to define requirements for and to manage the development of the robotic systems. Work with marketing, customers and applications laboratories to understand new customer requirements. Work to resolve system deficiencies as warranted. Work with internal software group to ensure that the robots are well-integrated with the system software. Work with systems engineering team to ensure that the robots are well-coordinated with the NMR system.
Requirements: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering. MS preferred 5-7 years experience Strong technical skills with motors and controllers. Experience with embedded control of motors in automated applications.
Experience in formal product development and manufacturing environment required.
Strong project management skills required and excellent oral and written communications skills required.
