Values and lifestyles - is a way of viewing people on the basis of their attitudes, needs, wants, beliefs, and demographics As we all know, we all grow from one level to another as children, as adolescents, and as adults. Some very few may start at the bottom and reach the top within a lifetime, but far more common is movement of a level or two. When we all are growing up, we pass through development thrust. These stages are as follows: Need Driven through Outer Directed and Inner Directed phases to a joining of Outer- and InnerDirection. Under Need driven stage, we have {1} Survivor lifestyle {2} Sustainer lifestyle While Outer-Directed {1}Belonger lifestyle {2} Emulator lifestyle {3) Achiever lifestyle For the Inner-Directed we also have {1} I-Am-Me lifestyle {2} Experiential lifestyle {3} Societally Conscious lifestyle and the last one Combined Outer- and Inner-Directed consist of what is called integrated lifestyle However, these transitions are a kind of a way post movement in lives (Individual) or society, which is from immaturity to full maturity. Three of the four major developmental categories are subdivided into lifestyle parts representing stages of advancement within the main category. By "maturity," we specifically mean psychological maturity which deals with the realization our potential. (Individual) Potential is based on how we make or take important decision. As we attain the stage of maturation, making decision becomes complex for us and the role of our habits or doing reduces our self-expressive. Hence, the more developed a person is, the more complex his or her value structure and the more diverse the range of value-based reactions becomes.

Value and Lifestyle typology The four major categories: Need-Driven This aspect center around survival, safety, and security. Such people tend to be distrustful, dependent, unplanning. This is where people live unhappy lives based on the fact that peoples need are so limited in resources (especially financial resources) that their lives are driven more by need than by choice. This stage is divided into Survivor and Sustainer. Survivor has to do with people who are limited to access to the channels of upward mobility. Sustainers – They are street-wise determinate and they plan to get ahead. Many operate in the underground economy. Outer-Directed- These are people who are Belongers (they do what is right and adhere to rules), Emulators (This people are always on the fast lane and they somewhat connect to the Achievers lifestyle and sometimes they are not realistic. But in a way, they are better off than the belongers based on competitiveness). Achievers are basically the intelligent people. Achievers tend to be materialistic, hard-working, oriented to fame and success, and comfort loving. Inner-directed- This deal with the Societally Conscious (This is where people engage in voluntary to support such causes as conservation, environmentalism, and consumerism.
