‘University is like this little world, a bubble of time, separate from everything before and everything after.’~ Mhairi McFarlane. The transition from high school to university seems an exciting yet daunting change, but if you think that you have worked out your university life before even experiencing it, then I can assure you that you're in for some major reality check! My first semester at IMD was one big crazy ride. From the gut_wrenching feeling of meeting new people to the realization of being well_surrounded, this first semester had all the lessons that needed to be learned. I feel like I have been careening through my semester at breakneck speed. Little did I know, my life was going to turn upside down. While procrastination hit me right in the face, the unanticipated midterms and finals struck me like a lightning bolt. But, I learned. It is a time of your life when you have the most amount of independence with the least amount of responsibilities. I have met so many new and wonderful people, and built up a friend group with people who are struggling with the same things as I am ;we support each other and they are always there for me. Not just my batch mates, my seniors have been a mighty support system as well. Their friendly nature and their (vague) advices have helped me adjust to this university life. I feel so accomplished when I walk up through the doors of ‘ENVIRO’ and I'm able to say ‘hi!’ while comparing to the first few days when it felt like I was lost in a sea of strangers. Admist the cattiness, the unreasonable politics that goes around, I feel grateful to have met some wonderful people. University has made me confident as a person and I am looking forward to what lessons the next 7 semesters will teach me.
