Think about the following subjects: The climate The natural environment Places of interest Focus on using open-ended rather than ‘Yes’, ‘No’ questions. These will encourage the other person to give extended answers. For example: Tell me something about the place you live. Where could a visitor go to get a taste of the local culture? Experiment with different ways of helping yourself remember what you want to say. You could use notes, cue cards, even images. Avoid writing your talk down and reading it to your audience. It’s difficult to maintain eye contact and make your listeners feel involved in the presentation if you are reading from a text.
