What is Domestic Violence? It often refers to violence between spouses, or spousal abuse while attempting to physically or psychologically dominate others.

Different Types of abuse

• physical violence- is the intentional use of physical force with the potential for causing injury, harm, disability, or death

• Emotional abuse – nonphysical, often verbal assault on a person– usually critical, demeaning and emotionally devastating.

sexual abuse or incest- the use of physical force to compel a person to engage in a Different Types sexual act against their of will,abuse whether or not the act is completed

Threat of violenceBattering will likely escalate.

Economic deprivation- tactic used to control a relationship by preventing access to money or other economic resources.

Intimidation- Threatening to use power or control to get others to do what you want them to do

Care for the domestically abused victims •Law that allow perpetrators to be removed from the home and provides for the victim getting full custody of her children. •Emotional Support •Self-help support groups. •Empowerment modeling.

Care for the domestically abused victims • Crisis Intervention • Crisis hot lines. • Shelters or other emergency residential facilities. • Medical services. • Transportation networks.
