A passenger train 15-Up Karachi Express which was on its way to Lahore, derailed 200 miles north of Karachi near Nowshehro Feroze, between Mehrabpur and Lakha. Initially 65 passengers have been reported dead and more than 165 sustained severe injuries. Edhi ambulances carried the injured to the nearest Mehrabpur Hospital for treatment. General Manager Pakistan Railways Asad Saeed has ruled out any terrorism activity and blamed it to be the result of a faulty railway track. However detailed investigations are under way. President Pervez Musharraf has condoled with the bereaved families and announced provision of free medical facilities and medicines to the victims of the train wreck. Officials have announced to pay a compensation of Pak Rs 200,000 to the families of each deceased individual and Pak Rs 50,000 to each injured in this train derailment accident. At Karachi airport all the passengers had to evacuate a passenger plane of Thai Airways and Special Bomb Disposal squad was called in for detailed search after reports of the presence of a bomb in the said plane. The Plane was supposed to leave for Bangkok from Karachi. Up till now the Special Bomb Disposal Squad is searching for the suspected bomb. The renowned Pakistani painter Gull Gee, his spouse and a maidservant were found dead in their house. According to the Police officials the bodies are decomposing and three (03) days old. This stunning ordeal was discovered when son of the famous painter came to visit their parents. Police is investigating further in to the matter; however they have not arrested any body till now.
