TOTEM PROJECT REQUIRMENTS 1.5 in diameter, 2 in long piece of Aluminum Two ends = North end, South End North end must mate with South end of assigned colleague in following way: Central axes of both pieces collinear and Visa Versa All dimensions must be in inches Two or more surfaces must be generated on a lathe (not including facing) Two or more surfaces must be generated on a mill (no circular milling moves) All surfaces must be cylindrical or planar (no tapers or threads) At least one hole must be drilled One width-mating surface on each end must be designed as a precision fit with a .000 allowance and a .005 tolerance All other dimensions should be shown to two decimal places Part must be created in 2-3 hrs total time Only use tools available in shop Must be possible to check dim with an outside or inside caliper Totem piece must be able to assemble with its two mates Milling sizes available: ¼”, 3/8”, ½”, 5/8”, ¾” 7/8” and 1” Parting tool blade is 1/8” wide with a max depth of ¼” Indexing available at 15 degree increments All drilling operations are specified in fractions.

NEW HW ASSIGNMENT – HW#2 Work only with the north end of the totem piece; the top 1” of the work piece MUST HAVE at least one mill cut and lathe cut for this week.
