Carpet Crunchers Smash Competition Much like Obama has surged ahead in the political campaign over the last three weeks so has Luke Schrage’s Carpet Crunchers in Phat Fro Fantasy Football. His team has been one of the most dominate teams this season with an 11-3 record. Even though he is not leading his division, he could be after this
Inter-League Update And Then There Was One by Marshall Bowling After this week's non-conference games, there is one team that has risen to the top. That team is Mike Irvin's team Scorch. They are the only 6-1 team in the Phat Fro Fantasy Football league. Scorch had a big win over Brian Crews' Elephant Poachers with a 249.2 to 209.6 score. Scorch was led by Chris Johnson with 63.6 points. Behind Scorch is a plethora of teams with the same 5-2 non-conference record. These teams include Da Big Hookah, Loco Marines, Strawberry Diesel Dazzlers, Kush Kronic Krushers, and Ric Flair of Phat Fro. There were plenty of close match-ups this week. The Gators beat Engage Anarchy by only 8.3 points, "Afro" Desiacs beat Sticky Icky's by the slim margin on 8.7 points, and Northern Lights pulled off a big win over Gladiators by only 5.2 points! The inter-league competitions are heating up every week. The question on everyone's mind for next week is anyone going to catch Scorch?? Or is Mike Irvin going to continue to Scorch the competition? Stay tuned next week for another amazing week of fantasy football!!

week 8. The current leader of his division is the Loco Marines that also have a 11-3 record. They have split their two games so far this season and will be facing off in week 8 to see who will be the dominate team in their division. Luke’s team this season has benefited greatly from the play at the WR position with Brandon Marshall and Reggie Wayne leading the way with an average of 47.8 and 37.1 points, respectively. Luke’s TE Greg Olsen has played exceptionally well averaging 37.1 points a game. While Luke’s Backfield has not excelled they have been extremely consistent averaging in the mid 30’s on a weekly basis. While the Carpet Crunchers did wait around till the later rounds to pick up a QB he still got one of the best QB’s of the first half of the season: Matt Schaub. Schaub is averaging 46 points a game and in week 4 he scored 73 points with over three hundred yards passing and three touchdowns. Will the Carpet Crunchers come out of his division as the victor this season? I think he has a really good chance. Even though the Loco Marines have had an amazing season so far their reliance on the QB position could be problematic. Luke’s brother Zack’s team Da Big Hookah could make a run on Luke but trailing by three games at the half way point means that such a scenario relies more on the faltering of the Carpet Crunchers than the success of Da Big Hookah. If the Carpet Crunchers can continue to consistently score well I predict a finish of 21-7 which should be good enough to capture the division title and most likely the number one seed in the playoffs. Only time will tell if the Carpet Crunchers will score.

At the half-way point of the season there have already been some blockbuster trades, Strawberry Diesel Dazzlers have acquired Frank Gore which has made his team scary. Also Da Big Hookah made a deal for Owen Daniels which has made his team killer. The Sticky Ickys have made a deal to get a 5th round draft pick for next year that should really get him off to a great start in 09. The Elephant Poachers got Amani “well dressed” Toomer that filled an important 3rd WR spot for him. But all good things must come to an end. That end for trades in 2008 will be November 22. All trades must be accepted by both owners by that date. The voting process can go on after that day. So whether your making a push for the play-offs or selling off those big players for draft picks for next, you better get on the horn soon because the clock is ticking.
