There is much, much more to be expressed as I tease out the details. Roughly speaking, we're focussed on this idea of an entity that is a piece of (recorded/captured) content. That content may exist as a physical entity (and consequently have more technical information associated with that representation), but at it's heart is about this captured piece of data/thought/presentation/etc. The left side of this diagram is largely concerned with the physical expressions of this content - i.e. the multitude of files that are essentially various formats for the content. The right side is looking at the way this content is structured and described in less physical terms, such as what subjects does it cover; where does it fit into institution X's structure; and more. Both Bjoern and the OpenCast community have already started to discuss many aspects of this topic, and whilst I'm not likely to exceed their collective wisdom, we want to have at least a good portion of this knowledge mapped out for us to better understand the systems and processes we're dealing with. I'm working in conjunction with the OpenSpires project in a short burst of activity to get the ball rolling, and will likely be talking more about this at the UnConference being hosted in Oxford on October 7th as part of the Steeple Benefits Realisation programme. If you've got ideas, notes, views to offer, please do get in touch. I'll add more to the blog as I can. Carl
