Logic Model Development Program Planning Template – Exercise 3 Strategies

In order to communicate effectively with generation awesome, the following strategies have been implimented. Social media campaigns applied through popular social networking sites - Twitter, Facebook and the Fernwood Community website - will target the identified demographic. These avenues provide the most accurate way of conveying the message as this generation is technology and internet based when it comes to where they obtain their source of information.

Influential Factors

Victoria's original needle exchange and temporarily erected site both face closure due to the unsafe environment it created and the health concerns it imposed on citizens. This fact will positively influence generation awesome to vote against the proposed site in Fernwood. The lack W.K. Kellogg Foundation

Assumptions

Based on the in-depth analysis of generation awesome and their tenancies for using social media as a source of information, we can assume that we will be effective in reaching our target audience and persuading them to vote against the supervised consumption site. The age and independence of generation awesome as supported by statistics, allows for the assumption that they are individuals who care about their own safety and well being as well as that of others in their community.

Problem or Issue

1 Generation awesome lacks information regarding Harm Reduction Victoria's proposed supervised consumption site and the dangers that follow as a result. Vancouver Island Health Authority is not current on how to communicate with these individuals in order to convince them to vote against the proposed. Community Needs/Assets

Fernwood's neighbourhood profile, as per the City of Victoria website, states that approx. 1,350 of the 9,205 residents are females between the ages of 20-29. An assessment of the needs for these residents concluded that the lack of a concrete communication plan is the number one issue. The homeowners in Fernwood are implementing social media campaigns to ressurect the situation.

Desired Results (outputs, outcomes, and impact)

Increase generation awesome's awareness of the potential danger and destruction a supervised consumption site would bring. In turn, these residents, along with other members of the community, will be persuaded to vote against HRV's proposal resulting in the VIHA rejecting the site altogether. Furthermore, the opposition to the site will lead the VIHA to come up with alternatives to combating the homeless and drug user population.
