Performance Task in Practical Research I-Qualitative Research Content Analysis and Thematic Analysis Names of the Members of the Group: Briones, Daryl John C. Silva, Jose Joaquin R. Castro, Cassandra Lyneth Q. Sadsad, Krystal Marie Coping Mechanisms as viewed by the Characters of the novel In this section, the mechanisms experienced by the characters in the novel are collected and organized through the use of the table. These are the ways and processes of the characters to be able to cope up with what they feel and experience. Coping Mechanisms as forms and acts of resiliency by the Characters Below is Table 1.1 that summarizes the coping up mechanisms shown by the characters in the novel. Listed here are all the themes identified to be relevant with main conflict being discussed.

as a helping hand for someone going through a lot. Complimenting someone rather than to feel them down is more helping to improve self esteem. Making someone understand the situation Acknowledging support from parents Being aware of the feelings of others, and talking with them would help them to cope up. Giving chances Running away is somehow helping in avoiding the stress or problem you've been facing Sometimes , coping up with some problems can be done by being alone and with that, you have a lot of time with yourself reflecting on it. Usually, living organisims such as animals and humans pant as their coping mechanism from discomfort usually from running and such .

As seen in the table above, the following coping mechanisms were observed and extracted from significant lines in the novel. These signify not only the resiliency of the characters but also their ability to resort to something that will make them feel better about their experiences. They cope not only to move forward but to make better decisions for the sake of their wellbeing and also to others. The coping up mechanisms included in the table above are as follows: having a positive outlook, seeking comfort from someone, acceptance, trying again, alone time and physical responses which are extracted from the themes driven out from the significant lines in table 2A.

Sometimes, coping up with some problems can be done by being alone and with that, you have a lot of time with yourself reflecting on it.

Running away is somehow helping in avoiding the stress or problem you've been facing

Being aware of the feelings of others, and talking with them would help them to cope up.

The table above showed the coding process. Initial codes were given to each significant lines from the novel to have a better approach and understanding through lines. Initial codes served as the specific themes driven out from each line. It contains the coping up mechanism topics being manifested and showed by the characters’ dialogue and self-narrations. 2B. In this table, the lines were sorted out to find general themes. Lines that tackle overlapping themes were grouped and placed under one general theme. Generating general themes gives a wider and more accurate coping mechanisms. Specific themes were narrowed down into ideas containing a wider scope. CONCLUSION It can be deduced that in the novel Wonder, various coping mechanisms were used by the characters. The thematic analysis resulted into six general coping up mechanisms. These were, having a positive outlook, acceptance, seeking comfort, trying again, reflection time and physical responses. These coping mechanisms were extracted and analyzed from the lines that reflects the character’s persona.
