The Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (a Baptist preacher), called recent tornadoes, not "Acts of God, " but "natural disasters. " A P , Little Rock, 3-22-97, said: "Gov. Mike Huckabee believes his God would never inflict such evil." Huckabee said: "I refuse to walk through tornado damage and to say that what destroyed it was God, and what built it back was only human beings. I saw God protect a lot of people, save a lot of people. That's an act of God, too. " ("Too"!?) Arkansas State Rep. Charles Fugua, a fellow Republican, said: "I love the governor. He's a fine man. He's just wrong in his theology.. . My Bible says God brings good, God brings bad. God is sovereign and nothing happens unless God allows it to happen. " In North Dakota by acts of God, Spring ice storms and flooding waters put ruling evil Jews in terror, and their servile Gentile citizens in fear. "Trembling hath possessed the hypocrites. "He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the watersflow. " Ps 147:18. As in Arkansas, neither in North Dakota have the preachers dutifully chided parishioners for their sins and hypocrisy, which have earned this Divine vengeance. They speak of disaster, but not of God; for they must condemn God, or be condemned by God. "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Lk. 13:3 AV. Jesus brought "in the deluge upon the world of the impious," saving eight righteous persons. I1 Pet. 2 5 . It is "like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Adrnah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath" (De. 29:23 AV), wherein there were not ten righteous. Gen. 18:32: I1 Pet. 2:6.
