The Pot

Here’s some good old Chinese wisdom! ‫هذه قصة جميله من أمثال الحكمة‬ ‫الصينيه‬

‫كان عند إمرأه‬ ‫صينيه مسنه إنائين‬ ‫كبيرين تنقل بهما‬ ‫ وتحملهما‬،‫الماء‬ ‫مربوطين بعمود‬ ‫خشبى على كتيفيها‬

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

‫وكان أحد النائين‬ ‫به شرخ والناء‬ ‫الخر بحالة تامه‬ ‫ولينقص منه شئ‬ ‫من الماء‬

‫وفى كل مرة كان‬ ‫الناء المشروخ‬ ‫يصل إلى نهاية‬ ‫المطاف من النهر‬ ‫إلى المنزل وبه‬ ‫نصف كمية الماء‬ ‫فقط‬

At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

‫ولمدة سنتين‬ ‫كاملتين كان هذا‬ ‫يحدث مع السيدة‬ ‫ حيث‬،‫الصينية‬ ‫كانت تصل منزلها‬ ‫بإناء واحد مملوء‬ ‫ونصف‬

‫ كان الناء‬،‫وبالطبع‬ ‫السليم مزهوًا بعمله‬ ‫الكامل‬

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments .

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

‫وكان الناء‬ ‫المشروخ محتقرًا‬ ‫لنفسه لعدم قدرته‬ ‫وعجزه عن إتمام‬ ‫ماهو متوقع منه‬

‫وفى يوم من اليام‬ ‫وبعد سنتين من‬ ‫المرارة والحساس‬ ‫بالفشل تكلم الناء‬ ‫المشروخ مع‬ ‫السيدة الصينية‬

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

“I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.”

‫”أنا خجل جدَا من‬ ‫نفسى لنى عاجز‬ ‫ولدى شرخ يسرب‬ ‫الماء على الطريق‬ “‫للمنزل‬

‫فأبتسمت المرأه‬ ‫الصينيه وقالت ”ألم‬ ‫تلحظ الزهور التى‬ ‫على جانب الطريق‬ ‫من ناحيتك وليست‬ ‫على الجانب‬ “‫الخر؟‬

The old woman smiled, “Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side?

That’s because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.”

‫أنا أعلم تمامًا عن‬ ‫الماء الذى ُيفقد‬ ‫منك ولهذا الغرض‬ ‫غرست البذور على‬ ‫طول الطريق من‬ ‫جهتك حتى ترويها‬ ‫فى طريق عودتك‬ ‫للمنزل‬

“For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.” ‫هذه‬ ‫متواصلتين قطفت من‬ ‫”ولمدة سنتين‬ “‫الزهور الجميلة لزين بها منزلى‬

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.” ‫ما لم تكن أنت بما‬ ‫ ما كان لى‬،‫أنت فيه‬ ‫أن أجد هذا الجمال‬ ‫يزين منزلى‬

Each of us has his own unique flaw… ‫كٌل منا لديه ضعفه‬

But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. ‫ولكن شروخاتنا وضعفاتنا تضع حياُتنا معًا بطريقة‬ ‫عجيبة ومثيرة‬

You’ve just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

‫يجب علينا جميعًا أن نتقبل بعضنا البعض على مانحن‬ ‫ن لدينا‬ ٌ ‫فيه وللنظر لما هو حس‬
