Welcome to the first issue of the Multiplay Monitor™. This newsletter aims to bring you the best from the Multiplayer Forums at GTAF, and GTA Multiplayer in general. We have done our level best to make this as interesting as possible, and we do hope that you, the reader, enjoy reading it as much as we did making it. This will be a bi-weekly publication. GTAMP News Nothing out of the ordinary recently, except for maybe the PS3 multiplayer outage on April 29, which lasted for about two days. After things were restored to normal, most players found no updates or differences. PSN GTAF Multiplayer events were affected by this unexpected denial of service. “Perfect timing Rockstar, perfect timing. Well, with this not working out, I think I'll cancel this”, said AndySerb, who had planed a huge PSN meet on April 29, to commemorate IV's one year anniversary on the consoles. “R* is f*%$@%# with my one day off, goddammit!!!!”, said a completely frustrated ChristopherD, who had just finalized the timings and guidelines for the next game of his 'Ground Forces vs. Airships' event. Meanwhile in gang chat, ranted Goonah, “Well, I've had it with GTA and Rockstar's Servers. Trying to get into AndySerb's 'Happy Birthday GTA IV' and Rockstar f*$ %^ it up. Jesus what d$#*^&*.” Some compulsive gamers hailed the downtime as a necessary break from GTA, while others took the opportunity to indulge in other games, or simply go out and have a drink. Nonetheless, all signs of agony vanished as soon as the service was restored. “What a long GTA nite was yesterday nite! 9 TWs, Races, TDMs, DMs and a lot of fun!”, remarked docrikowoski, founder of Dirty Dozen and well known event organizer.

Gang Schmooze ➔ SPOTLIGHT TCD has been active since March 17th, 2008 but was formed under the name Bohan Crook Department. BCD was founded originally by BlOoDStReAm101 and Gezim (formerly known as YourNeighbourhoodKiller) with YNK leading the PS3 side and BlOoDStReAm101 leading the 360 side, also Mein was put up a 3rd in command. They gained a warm reception on GTAF from many of the users and moderators. They had come 3rd in the GTANet Annual Awards 2008 with 31 votes. On June the 2nd, 2008 BlOoDStReAm101 requested a lock from the moderators on the BCD topic, due to spam from various members and arguments, etc. The topic was closed at 130 pages, but later on during the day BCD re-emerged into the gang scene with a new topic, once again given a warm welcome. On January 7th, 2008 YourNeighborhoodKiller decided to quit BCD, and the PS3 division was lacking a leader. Lega_c was originally going to be elected as PS3 leader, but didn't want to write a elementary school paper on why he should be the new leader, as such he left BCD. He was closely followed by Ronnyboy. All 3 of the members went over and joined The Loonies. BCD provoked The Loonies over GTAF, but where promptly told off by many members about their actions. On September 12th, 2008 BCD lost another member (Digital Murders) due to the constant fighting between The Loonies. On September 26th, 2008 the results of the TCD's 08 awards where put up which can be found here.

On September 28th, 2008 BlOoDStReAm101 edited the front page, with new images and renamed divisions and the new name The Crook Department, which was met with much enthusiasm. Old comrades Lega_c and Ronnyboy returned to TCD on November 17th, 2008 due to Gezim's 'The Commission' failing due to inactivity.

Around October the 2nd, 2008 KillerKabel was elected as Leader of the PS3 division. Disappointed with the lack of attendance on the PS3 side, KillerKabel resigned on November the 20th, 2008. And soon enough around December the 9th 2009, Jost_Vice was elected as the new PS3 member, and welcomed with much acclaim. On January 5th, 2009 YNK's return to TCD was announced. He had returned Bloodstream announces his resignation and possible gang closure under the alias "Gezim", he stayed for a while but once again left on January 22nd, 2009 due to personal reasons. In mid January Unlimited left for a while but returned and was promoted back to the leader of the PC division. On May the 11th, 2009 founder of TCD BlOoDStReAm101 decided to leave the gang, also making crazy outlandish predictions about the fall of other MP gangs. This sent most of the gang into turmoil, but Captain Awesome and Jost_Vice took over the reigns of leadership and have managed to get the gang back on track for a while. Bloodstream later reconsidered his decision and decided to stay, with a more passive role. However, TCD still have some bad stigma in their history due to some of their 'infamous' operations. Most were considered childish by the population of GTAF, these 'operations' included 'taking down' another popular GTAF gang and Koik handing over her account details to Unlimited to access information on the Yardies private forums. What does the future hold for TCD? We'll let Captain Awesome and Jost_Vice decide that one....

You can Contact TCD at: Their thread on GTAF which can be found here The Subway here Their Private Boards here Their IRC channel here (you'll need an IRC client to access this)

➔ WEEKLY REPORT 8-15 May 2009 PGC-era Gangs Interest of Official Gangs for the Multiplayer section of GTAForums seems to be dropping day by day. Zaibatsu (Z-MP) and Andolini Mafia Family activity is very low. Zaibatsu members talked about 'updates' in their thread, but the emptiness of the first post speaks otherwise. AMF are even less active, as their topic was recently bumped by a newbie. The only remaining unofficial PGC gang that has their topic in Multiplayer, Propaganda Incorporated is the least active of the three. Their topic is currently on 2nd page of the gangs section, and their private forums aren’t much active either. Other Multiplayer Gangs Forsaken MC had their thread bumped by its leader earlier on Friday, but the gang looks as dead as ever. Weekly SA:MP meet of the T’Privateers, a group of members from various gangs, failed last Sunday due to technical problems. One of the well known members due to his 50+ accounts UH60 (Easy-A) was granted an unban started a gang named The Black Beard. But he was re-banned in a couple of days as he failed to show any signs of improvement.. This brought joy to many members' faces. Drunk Russian 9 attempted to revive Sub Zero Motorsports, a PC car club, but it all seems like it’s going to die off, again. The Forgotten MC had their topic bumped and spammed by a bunch of randomers, and the gang looks dead more or less. Sons of Liberty, a newest PS3 gang to compete in GTAF Gang League 2009 recently canceled out a match with the Exiles, and got a new member from Angels of Death, elbarro who left due to the inactivity of the PS3 chapter. In The Yardies, it was a calm week, which saw many admire the awesomeness of thales100 and his entry in the IV Photo Contest. They were also fixing and adding new things to their SA:MP Server, chatted and had some usual bursts of spam. A certain gang brought attention of the many this week. It was the Shin-Ra Corp, already up to 13 pages. However though, they do not play multiplayer, just chat with each other in a role play style. They were already warned by the led-by’s not to do so in future, and the next week will show did the warning had any effect at all. A couple of more 'clan clubs' were formed this week, mostly PC based ones which unite drifters in Nitrox Drift Team, police officers in Joint Operations and so on. There are also some new clans that will either die, or become something in the next week or two. Those are the newly formed Lone Brotherhood, Airport Mafia and the 39th Street Killers. Back to the bigger gangs, Dirty Dozen crew celebrated their page 500 and post 10000, both taken by their leader docrikowski. Alongside a usual chat from their PS3’s nothing special happened as ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

TMM #1 .................................................. 8/17 ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── a calm week passed for them, and their thread, currently the biggest in the gang section at the 506th page. The European Connection, also known as TEC, recently got a few new members, and grown up as one of the most stable clans in the section. Last week was a normal multi-playing week and a chat week in which they made a lot of team clips from IV, then posted and admired each others work. Angels of Death MC raised their activity, and played a match in the Gang League vs The Exiles, losing 2:0 though. Together with a couple promotions in the clan, Angels continue their race to the top. Scientists of SRS Incorporated had a usual PS3 meet with a couple of members from TCD last Friday, and attempted to organize a 360 meet, but apparently it didn’t work out very well. An ex-TCD member El Zilcho applied for the SRS as well during last week. The Exiles had a hot week. First they got a commendation in Hall of Fame 2009, then they started fights between each other and it happened a few times this week, which all ended up with Tonksi leaving for TCD. Apparently he was hanging on TCD IRC days before he officially joined. Finally we come to The Crook Department, who are in spotlight this week. Their leaders BlOoDStReAm101 and Unlimited first quit the gang, claiming it is inactive, and wanted to close it, then posted an ‘’approximate death’’ of all the other gangs, to eventually go back on track with a new member from Exiles, and a new leadership from Jost_Vice, Kimd41 and Captain Awesome. MM Weekly Quiz To answer to this weeks quiz, reply in the forum topic with ‘’QUIZ(1-yes/no,2-yes/no,3-yes/no)’’ alongside the usual. Next week we will see whether you were correct, and how many voted for which option. (1) Do you think The Crook Department will get more members next week? (2) Do you think The Yardies topic will reach page 400 before Friday? (3) Do you think the topic of Prop Inc will stay on 2nd page next week?

Events Bulletin ➔ REPORT Quite recently the GTAF racing league of 2009 got underway. The first matches seemed to be a breeze apart from the two griefers. Racing has been a target for griefers for quite a while which could be the reason for griefing this event. Apart from this the event is going well with the current leaders Turismo Tribal with 18 points. Captain Awesome and Kimd41 both getting extremely good positions in their race. Meanwhile Sultan Palace Racing have probably lost vital points due to te_killa who was absent for the vital first race. As te_killa was not online, in desperate need of another member to play for his team, Tommy-Vercetti19 messaged NikoB on PSN asking if he would race for Sultan Palace. The host, AndySerb wouldn’t allow it. Meanwhile on the drivers standings the two at joint top are J4ADM and Kimd41 who both have 10 points as they both won their races. This is not of course AndySerb's first event he has hosted. He also host the ever so popular Gang league. The gang league is a chance for gangs to compete more than just the occasional battle. At the top of the leader board, the Dirty Dozen are unbeaten leaving the Exiles 3 points behind. Although the dirty dozen are at the top now there is still many games to play, and hopefully a few shockers throughout the rest of the tournament. It seems that gangs automatically gain 20 points as when gangs fall. It counts as an automatic win for the teams they have not played. There are currently 15 teams on the leader board but only a few still exist. The latest seems to have been with the Exiles and the angels of death on Xbox 360. It was described as a extremely close game and could have gone either way. Meanwhile in other events, the TDM WARS event seems to be finally starting on Sunday the 17th of may. The event was released on April the 17th meaning it has taken a month for the first match to be underway. What a way to celebrate the first month of the seemingly popular event. The event consist of TDM of course. The objective basically to get the best win streak you can. The teams were randomly chosen by a random number generator even though afterwards a few arguments started including quite a big one by sammyman88 and Goonah. This argument went on for pages. The TDM WARS thread is much more calmer now though and seems to be going fine.

➔ SPOTLIGHT Turf Wars' first birthday has just recently happened on Thursday the 14th. docrikowski or maybe better known as RikoBegovic made the event just for the pure love he had for the game mode. It has been successful for the entire year since it’s release and I hope another year will be just as successful. Although I have not played in it myself I believe it is one of the best events on the forum and probably one of the most enjoyable. It has generated over 200 pages which is pretty amazing for an event. This just shows just how good it is. If you look on the front page you will see the celebration banner made by RikoBegovic to celebrate their 1st year. The matches are set in Bohan with blips just set to team, giving a sense of ambush. Anything can happen in these games, auto aim is off. No easy finding targets with the automatic toggle. These are dangerous places to be and only the best survive. I hope to get more involved with the turf wars as it is extremely popular and seems like a lot of fun. It’s my sort of game as I think it is anyone’s type of game (except noobs, auto aim, team only blips, too dangerous for them). You will laugh at the anthem for turf wars (a parody of “I will survive”). Here are a few lines of the lyrics: Go on now go walk out the door just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore weren't you the one who tried to snipe me in the eye you think I'd crumble you think I'd lay down and die Oh no, not I I will survive as long as i know how to aim I know I will stay alive I've got all my cars to rev I've got all bullets to give and I'll survive I will survive. This was written by GlobalKlaus in July last year and I still find it clever. So basically to conclude, Turf Wars to be one of (if not) the best events in the events forum. I wish Riko and all the other participants luck.

Interviews ➔ Lochie Hello, I'm Chunk, interviewer extraordinaire, here with gang led-by Lochie. Chunk: How you doing, good chap? Lochie: Pretty good thank you sir, yourself? Chunk: I'm fine, though I'm sure our readers care much more about you than me. Lochie: Aw Chunk, you ol' flatterer. Chunk: I try. But anyway, let's get down and dirty. You became led-by a few months ago, yeah? And you're in 2 gangs, AMF and SRS. Do you think people think the 2 gangs, especially SRS get special treatment because of this? Lochie: Well, I don't really consider it 'special' treatment so to say. After we first opened our doors to Official members, we basically just created a bond I guess. It explains why you see a lot of LFM members in SRS and vice versa. I'd assume people would assume the usual silly nonsense that the PGC groups get special treatments. But really they have the same rights as we do. Chunk: Alright then, you got a medal for being the excellent led-by you are, along with GTArv, do you think you maybe went a little elitist after that? Lochie: Not really, even if I didn't have a medal I'd still be an arsehole when enforcing the rules. They're there for a reason, y'know. Chunk:Yeah, I see the rules are enforced more than usual in Gangs Section. But then in every other section you don't get guys going, "join mi gang, it be gangsta." Lochie:Haha, people just fail to understand the 'Gangs' section is still apart of GTAF and the rules still apply. I've had people ask me why can't they double post in their gang topic, and I've told them 'Do you think you'd get away with double posting in General Chat?' and they've said 'No, I'd get a warning'. Well you're gonna get a warning if you do it in the Multiplayer section too! Chunk: Moving away from gangsta gangs for a minute Lochlan, is there any gangs out there who abide by these rules and you don't have any trouble WITH?

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

TMM #1 .................................................. 12/17 ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Lochie: When I first got promoted it seemed only TCD understood the rules (Even SRS would slip up at some times), but slowly over time a lot of them finally understood it. I can't say I really have any problems with gangs until Sammyman comes online drunk after his footy team loses. Chunk: I just seen that guy viewing my faithful Yardies topic. Had any problems with the Y? Lochie: Oh boy, thats a whole different story. I never really had any problem with the Yardies as a whole gang, sure, I had to give out a few warnings and they all considered (probably still do) me a wanker. But one young fella, who will remain nameless, really bought a lot of unneeded attention to the gang with his pointless 'fux lochie' attitude. I consider myself fair when it comes to enforcing the rules, but in the end if he hadn't had done what he had to get banned, I probably would of gone insane. Chunk: Phew, I thought you were talking about me there. But never mind my paranoia, let's move onto some of the various things going on in Gangs, the first being The Hall of Fame. Lochie: Sure, what about it Chunkington? Chunk: Seems a pretty good idea, with 4 gangs getting commendations already. Is there anymore of them commendations lurking? Lochie: None as of late, I suppose the gang scene has been quite, but if my mind serves me correctly good ol' Doc (DDZN) has been planning something HUGE. Could see some big bonuses coming out for those who participate, then we've got NikoB's Gang RP which should be pretty interesting when things get started. Chunk: I see. Would a blowjob get one out of you? Lochie: As tempting as it'd be, I'd probably have to pass. My job could be on the line if it went public. Chunk: This paper would get a scandal. Now, you said about warnings in the Hall of Fame, any gangs edging close to getting on of them? Lochie: There's been a few times in the spur of the moment I've nearly given one out, but Arv and I generally like to think discuss these things. We're basically a couple, Chunk:You must never breed. Only joking, we have to get back to this interview. The Events section isn't as big as the Gangs, do the happy couple have any plans to fix this? Lochie: Not as of late, I think the Events section really looks after itself. People want to play online, people need others to play online, people organise an event. Not much we can do, but we'll think of something.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

TMM #1 .................................................. 13/17 ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Chunk: Some good things are going on in there. The Racing League, Ground Forces vs Airships, The Blacklist and Turf Wars are still going strong, would you want to get involved in any of them? Lochie: I was involved with the TW Cup, but my internet was just horrible when I played with the others so my interest just dropped. Chunk: I'm hopefully getting a PS3 soon, so I might get involved in some of the Events. But back to the gangs section, any new gangs got you excited? Lochie: The concept of the whole 'Shin-Ra Corp' seems pretty interesting, I just hope its executed well. Chunk: And TEC, they only started and are up to over 50 pages already, I think they're one of the gangs that'll be here for ages to come. Lochie: Yeah, be interesting to play a few rounds with them as well. Chunk: And speaking of playing, out of your experience with gangs, who would you say is the best player about at the moment? Lochie: MC, Kayla or Stev. Chunk: Nice quickfire answer there Lochlan, a nice end to the interview too. I can't think of anything to ask, though that's what happens when you're forced to interview an angry Austrailian without having been prepared. But it was good to talk to you Lochie, hope to see you Loching more gang topics for years to come. Lochie: Pleasure is mine.

Tommy_Vercetti19

Hey guys, this issue I am here with Tommy-Vercetti19, a skillful GTA player and a leader of the Exiles. Trooper: Evening Tommy. Tommy: Hey man. Likewise! Trooper: So tell me Tommy. What is it that you like about the Multiplayer forums that makes you want to stay here? Tommy: Just that there's many awesome, well organized gangs out there. And I’ve met some amazing people which have drawn me there since early last year. Trooper: Yeah I agree. Are there any gangs in particular that you like? Tommy: Well in particular, I like TCD, DDZN and SRS. Their member’s base is solid and always know how to have a good laugh. Trooper: Ah yes. They are a good group of people. Anyone you would like to mention from these gangs? Tommy: Definitely, Doc over at DDZN. He's the one main reason I’m still here today. Him and the rest of the guys over there are insanely talented and so funny on the mic in a RPG only FM. Kudos to them! Trooper: Of course, a big hand to Doc, a great example of some of the contributors on the forums today. So, moving onto the events, what do you make of the events? Tell us a bit about them. Tommy: Well the events are what I think is the one thing that holds the gang section together. Especially AndySerb’s Gang league 09. It's improved all relations between all the gangs and made it friendlier to have a regular chat with them. Then you have other events like Ground V Air by ChristopherD which is extremely fun to play against the good pilots. Then there's Hykal’s Free Mode which is a blast to play as the Cops on. All that randomness! Trooper:Yeah, there is a lot of variety for everyone to choose from on there. You are very busy with the Exiles and all. But have you ever thought about making your own event? Tommy: I am busy with my own gang indeed. But making my own event has crossed my mind plenty ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

TMM #1 .................................................. 15/17 ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── of times. I was thinking about creating a Top Gear event, but I can't go into details about it yet. Trooper: Sounds great. You should definitely give it a go. I can't wait to see what it has to offer. Tommy: Thanks man! Trooper: So is there any advice you can give to someone maybe having thoughts about creating an event? Any tips? Tommy: Yeah. Think it through first. Decide on what the theme is going to be, maybe create some designs. When creating the topic be sure to check the events template to have a guideline to what you can achieve. Have a topic so people will keep coming back to it. Trooper: So there you go everyone, some good advice from Tommy for you. Well Tommy, It's been a pleasure having you on our first issue, I wish you all my luck with your future on the forums and thanks for your time. Tommy: Thanks man, I can only say the same.

Uncle Bob’s Fountain of Wisdom Greetings everyone. Welcome to the first of Uncle Bob’s Problem Page. This week, I received a letter from a lovely young lady, who is having some problems with the other residents of Liberty City. She writes: “Dear Bob, Do you have any online multiplayer tips?” Uncle Bob always has time for a damsel in distress. ➔ UNCLE BOB'S TOP TIPS Lets start with the basics: • Pick up any cash you see on the ground. • Burst Fire, When in a gunfight, don’t just hold down the fire button, tap it, 3 round bursts, as this will improve your accuracy. ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

TMM #1 .................................................. 16/17 ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

• • • • •

Remember, Headshot, Headshot, Headshot. If in a Team Death Match, remember there is safety in numbers. Use Zoom as this gives you far better range than the standard view. Never ever get in a car in an auto aim game. If you crouch, your name tag above your head vanishes, so you can sneak up on your opponents easier; although be aware that, in a blips set to all match people will still see your location on their map.

➔ UNCLE BOB'S SECRET PRO TIPS  If you’re in a gunfight, and someone has sneaked around behind you, don’t try and turn while aiming. Oh my, no.  Release the aim button and turn then press the aim button you will turn much more quickly and the target will also be at headshot height, which is nice.  Cops and Crooks: If you’re the cop, turn that siren off and split up from the get go. If you’re a crook and you are the boss, get out to sea, as it is a lot more difficult to be shot by people.  If you’re opponent is directly in front of you: Learn to strafe, instead of moving the target around with your thumb stick.  If you walk side to side while aiming your target stays at head height, then just tap fire every time the target comes in contact. I have seen people practicing this on lamp posts. Okay, here is a sneaky one, for you gangsters out there. If you end up in a match with some friends and the host has selected to have blips set to far and you all have mics. a buddy away from the action preferably with a sniper, that way they can shoot, while also being able to give away the location of your opponents. I hope some of this is helpful, to you, although I suspect that you will be just fine out there.

Remember kids, if you are too embarrassed to ask anyone else, Bob’s your uncle!
