The Malaysian economy is really being very badly mismanaged and there are signs that the economy or those herding it are dicing with disaster or even possibly or potentially dicing with sure certain death. Below exposes the frail state of our economy with such dismal growth figures. _______________________________________________________ | | | | 1st qtr | 2nd qtr | | | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2009 | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| | | | | | | | GDP growth | 6.3% | 4.6% | -6.2% | -3.9% | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| | | | | | | | Investments | 9.6% | 1.1% | -10.3% | -9.8% | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| | Domestic | | | | | | Consumption | 9.8% | 6.9% | -2.9% | -2.3% | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| | | | | | | | Imports | 5.4% | 2.2% | -23.5% | -19.7% | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| | | | | | | | Exports | 4.2% | 1.5% | -15.2% | -17.3% | |________________|_______|_______|_________|__________| The government now is definitely still fast asleep and having a very grand time trundling gently through one sweet and nice fancy dream after another with the intention of not wanting to ever wake up. During the previous administration, the government carried out the highly incredulous act of raising prices and then giving away big rebates on road tax renewals. No wonder the economy is tanking this time around. Still, nobody has ever become even one bit wiser. Only even more fast asleep. The government has so far remained unable to realise what kind of measures that should be taken to get the economy moving. Instead, the politicians are doing overtime cranking the big propaganda machine and boasting how good everthing has become, how wonderful the leadership is and how amazing the country's countless and unmatchable achievements are. The real truth is that we are rushing and heading down the road to total economic doom. People are fast losing hope and losing all patience and are silently cursing the politicians. But they are fast asleep and even dreaming about the 13th PRU where in the dreams they became elevated to sainthood upon the conclusion of the PRU. Dream on. Yes !! No one in the government today is able to realise that there are several things which require immediate & urgent attention now in order to have any hope of rescuing the economy.

Fighting crime must become a top priority. As long as the government shows complete failure to overcome this problem no economic recovery can be certain. Death is very certain, however. (Please bang this into your head, with a hammer or even a piledriver if necessary). Solving transport woes is another top priority. Without a very good and extremely efficient public transport system, the economy will surely slide into the lion's mouth. Take a look at the daily nightmarish traffic jams and the very overcrowded buses and you will know why the economy is now doing so very horribly badly. Uniting the public is one more top priority for the economy. Stop reproducing the old garbage of stirring up emotional feelings and self-awareness of one's racial or religious background. Till today, the politicians are busily mouthing 'agama, bangsa, kaum, bahasa' and other similar rubbish. Not one day has ever passed by without hearing these words. They are the very chants that are most surely putting the very dreaded voodoo on the economy. Other issues and actions are the urgent need to stop coddling the local car campanies, avoid the subsidies mentality, stop the import of foreign labour, promote the local IT industry, wipe out the human traffickers, reduce or eliminate the road accident rate, nurture our local surveillance hardware business, do more to help the family-owned business enterprises, do away with all NEP restrictions, protect and support all vernacular colleges, redouble the efforts to provide broadband access, increase the target to 75% instead of 50% and many, many, many, many other measures and actions. Wake up now !!! Before it's too late. Don't get up only when the bells have started tolling. Listen to the masses now !!! Today. This very second. Do not wait anymore !!!!
