between 1750 and 1900 the population of britain grew very fast in 1750 there were about seven million people living in britain with another three million people living in ireland however by 1900 britains population shot up to nearly 40 million the places where people lived had changed too in 1750 only two out of ten people lived in towns whilst the rest lived in the countryside by 1900 many people had left the countryside and moved into the towns a census of 1901 showed that over 70% of people were now living in towns
