The three principal characters in the story were Silvia, Gabriel and Marco. Gabriel was kind and friendly but poor. Marco was rich but he wasn’t nice. Gabriel invited her to go to the cinema. She didn’t accept because she was going out with Marco. Marco liked her flat because there were expensive pictures there. After Silvia’s father died, the Delgados were not rich any more. Silvia’s mother was very ill. She couldn’t walk. Marco took Silvia to the Oasis restaurant. She felt uncomfortable because Marco didn’t like their table and shouted at the manager. 10) When the earthquake happened, Gabriel was waiting outside the cinema with the tickets in his hand. Marco was inside the restaurant. Silvia was in the garden of the restaurant and her mother was in their flat. 11) After the earthquake, the restaurant and some buildings in the town fell. They were only rubble. 12) Silvia didn’t stop to help other people because she wanted to go home for her mother. 13) When she entered the flat, her mother wasn’t there. 14) Mr. Enriquez said that Mr. Garcia took her mother to Liberty Park. 15) Silvia went back to her flat to take her mother’s medicine. 16) Gabriel wasn’t dead. He had a bad cut on his head and his arm was broken. 17) When he woke up he was in the hospital garden. 18) Marco wasn’t dead. A man in the street told Silvia that he rescued Marco from under the rubble, but Marco didn’t even say “thank you”. 19) Silvia understood that she didn’t like Marco. She loved Gabriel. 20) At 12:30 am Silvia arrived at Liberty Park. Her mother was there. 21) On the floor he found the red rose for Silvia. 22) Suddenly 2 thieves ran out of Silvia’s flat. They tried to steal a box with jewellery, but Gabriel got it back. 23) Gabriel entered the flat and saw Silvia’s dirty shoes on the floor. He realized Silvia was alive. 24) Gabriel couldn’t rescue people from under the rubble because his arm was broken. But he went to a shop at the end of the street and carried food for the workers. 25) The workers moved the rubble and pulled people out of the ruins. 26) The newsreader said that there was not going to be another earthquake and that people could back to their homes. Dangerous buildings had a white cross on the door. The buildings with no cross were safe. 27) Because there wasn’t a white cross on their door. 28) When Silvia got to her flat she saw that Gabriel was asleep in front of her door. 29) He was thin, ill and dirty. His head was hot and his legs were weak. 30) In the end he gave Silvia the red rose.
