CPD/PDP HOURS: 2 Ref No: IEM 09//HQ/032/T

SYNOPSIS It is anticipated that there will be less commercially viable oil & gas fields in the Malaysian shallow water. As such, there is an increased push towards developing fields in the deep (200-1000m water depth) and ultra-deep (more than 1000m water depth) water. In line with this shift, Petronas has set the tone by stating its ambition to make Malaysia as the regional deepwater hub and, along with its Production Sharing Contractors, has set the ball rolling by the successful project execution of and oil production from Kikeh Deepwater Development. The presentation intends to share presentor's general experience in the deepwater projects, which covers background, introduction to technologies, challenges/opportunities, and Kikeh development examples.

BIODATA Ir. Ahmad Sedek hold a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, USA. He has 17 years working experience in the oil & gas industry (upstream) working with major multinational companies such as Esso Production Malaysia Inc. and Technip, a leading oil & gas engineering contractor. As a Principal Engineer with Technip, Ir. Ahmad was involved, among othes, in the execution of the EPCIC contract for Kikeh Dry Tree Unit(DTU), a major component of the overall Kikeh Deepwater Development, the first deepwater development of its kind outside Gulf of Mexico. He spent the next 2 years as the Business Manager with Technip, before shifting back to engineering with ConocoPhillips, where he will work on what is to become Malaysia 3rd deepwater project, the Kebabangan Cluster development.
