Date: May 19, 2009 Dear Congressman/Congresswoman: On behalf of Burma Point, we are writing to thank you for your support of freedom in Burma, in particular the letter you helped send to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on April 3. As your letter so eloquently noted, the situation in Burma is desperate. The brutality of the junta has created widespread poverty, disregard for civil liberties, and forced labor and conscription. Now, the junta has taken its cruelty level further by planning to jail Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. It is vital that the United States remain committed to freedom and democracy in Burma. However our policy toward Burma may evolve, we must always honor that commitment through intelligent legislation and effective international leadership. We are deeply grateful for your efforts on behalf of these issues. Sincerely, Burma Point
