JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with diabetes. They shared the belief that by raising funds for research, a cure would be found for this debilitating disease, freeing children from insulin-dependence and the devastating complications of diabetes. And since it's founding, JDRF has awarded more than $1 billion to diabetes research, including more than $123 million in FY2006. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Your support of JDRF and the Walk Program is very much appreciated. Thanks to caring organizations like Hispanic Police Officers Association, Inc., the 2007 Walk has reached its goal of $511,000 for diabetes research. Once again, thank you for your generosity. Sincerely,
Brian R. Exelbert President JDRF Board South Florida Chapter
