ในปัจจุบัน วัฒนธรรมไทยในสังคมไทยเริ่มลดลงไปเรื่อยๆ โดยถูก แทนที่ด้วยวัฒนธรรมตะวันตก ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่องของการแต่งกาย อาหาร หรือแม้กระทั่งชีวิตประจำวัน วัฒนธรรมไทยของเราได้เลือนหายไปตาม กาลเวลาและอิทธิพลของชาติอื่นๆ เราจึงได้ปัญหานี้มาใช้เป็นแนวคิดหรือ คอนเซปหลักในการทำชุดรีไซเคิลของห้องเรา ในส่วนของคอนเซปหรือแนวคิดหลักของชุดไทยรีไซเคิลของห้องเรา คือการเปลี่ยนแปลงและปรับเปลี่ยนของวัฒนธรรมตามยุคสมัยที่ เปลี่ยนแปลงไปในประเทศไทย โดยสื่อออกมาผ่านการใช้ชุดที่สามารถ แปลงรูปได้ เราเลือกที่จะสื่อแนวคิดออกมาดังนี้ แรงบันดาลใจของเรามา จากชุดไทยในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ ซึ่งเป็นยุคสมัยแรกๆที่มีการสร้างสัมพันธ์ ไมตรีที่ดีกับต่างประเทศและเริ่มมีการเปิดรับวัฒนธรรมจากประเทศอื่นๆ มากขึ้น ทำให้เราเลือกที่จะนำต้นแบบในสมัยนี้มาใช้ ชุดไทยในสมัยนั้นจะ มีลักษณะเข้ารูปในช่วงเอว มีผ้าฟูในส่วนของหัวไหล่จนถึงต้นแขน ส่วนของ แขนเสื้อมีความยาวถึงข้อมือ มีการใช้เข็มขัดรัดช่วงเอวและใส่คู่กับโจง กระเบน ชุดก่อนแปรรูปจะเป็นชุดที่คล้ายกับรูปแบบในสมัยร.๕ เพื่อที่จะสื่อ ถึงความเป็นไทยในสมัยก่อนที่เริ่มมีวัฒนธรรมตะวันตกเข้ามา วัฒนธรรม ไทยเริ่มเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามอิทธิพลของวัฒนธรรมตะวันตกตามเวลาที่ผ่าน ไป คนไทยเริ่มที่จะละเลยวัฒนธรรมไทยและหันไปสนใจและนิยม วัฒนธรรมของตะวันตกมากยิ่งขึ้นทำให้วัฒนธรรมของเราเริ่มที่จะเลือน หายไป เราต้องการที่จะสื่อว่าวัฒนธรรมมีความสวยงามในรูปแบบของตัว วัฒนธรรมที่มีอยู่และสามารถอยู่ร่วมกับวัฒนธรรมตะวันตกที่เข้ามาอย่าง เข้ากันและไม่ล้าสมัยได้ แนวคิดนี้ถูกสื่อออกมาผ่านชุดที่แปรรูปแล้ว เสื้อที่ เราออกแบบมาในตอนแรกสามารถเข้ากันได้ดีทั้งกับโจงกระเบนแบบไทย หรือกระโปรงยาวในแบบตะวันตก โจงกระแบนจึงถูกเปลี่ยนรูปให้เป็นกระ โปรงยาวโดยการปลดส่วนหน้าของโจงกระเบนออกกลายเป็นกระโปรง

ยาวในแบบตะวันตก นอกจากนั้นด้านในของกระโปรงยาวยังมีกระโปรง สั้นที่เข้ากับยุคสมัยของปัจจุบัน ชุดนี้เป็นการผสมผสานระหว่างวัฒนธรรม ไทยและตะวันตกอย่างลงตัวเหมือนกับการที่วัฒนธรรมของไทยสามารถอยู่ ร่วมกับวัฒนธรรมตะวันตกได้โดยที่ไทยก็ไม่ได้ด้อยหรือล้าสมัยไปกว่า ตะวันตก โดยรวมแล้ว ชุดของเราแสดงถึงอิทธิพลของกาลเวลาที่จะทำให้ วัฒนธรรมไทยเดิมของเราด้อยค่าลงในสายตาของคนรุ่นใหม่หลายๆคน แต่ในความเป็นจริงแล้ว วัฒนธรรมไทยไม่ได้ด้อยไปกว่าวัฒนธรรมตะวัน ตกเลยแม้แต่น้อย ทั้งยังสามารถผสมผสานกับวัฒนธรรมต่างชาติที่เข้ามา ได้อย่างลงตัว หากแต่การผสมผสานวัฒนธรรมเพื่อให้วัฒนธรรมจะเกิดขึ้น ไม่ได้หากคนไทยไม่เห็นคุณค่าของมัน ดังนั้นชุดรีไซเคิลของเราไม่ได้แค่ แสดงถึงการดำรงอยู่และผสมผสานของวัฒนธรรม แต่ยังทำให้คนไทย ฉุกคิดถึงความสวยงามและความสำคัญของวัฒนธรรมของชาติที่อาจเลือน หายไปด้วยเช่นเดียวกัน In modern *mes, tradi*ons and cultures in Thai society are being threatened and replaced by the influence of western cultures. Not only clothings or food, but this also applied to our lifestyles. Thai tradi*ons are fading away and being forgo=en as *me passes and external influences grow. So, we decided to bring this problem up and use it as the main idea and concept for our class’ recycle costume. For our concept, it is about changes and adapta*ons of tradi*ons along the age and era in Thailand. It will be shown through our costume that can change its form. The inspira*on for this costume came from Thai people’s clothing during the reign of King Rama V, which was the *me Thailand had started crea*ng friendly rela*onships with western na*ons and

accep*ng some of their cultures, and that is why the clothings during King Rama V matched our concept perfectly. The clothings of that *me would be long-sleeved, slim on the waist part, have frills along the shoulders un*l upper arms, and area around the waist was *ed up by a belt. It was wore along with the Thai loincloth called “Jong Kra Ben”. The costume before transforming will resemble clothings during King Rama V *me to show Thai cultures before western na*ons come in. As *me went on, Thai cultures began to decline as Thai people became more interested in western cultures and started to neglect their own. The message we want to communicate is that everything has its own charm that is unique from others and that Thai cultures can coexist with western cultures without being outdated. The message will be transmi=ed through the costume’s transforma*on. The shirt was designed to match well with both Thai loincloth and a long skirt. By tugging the loincloth, it will spread out into a western long skirt while showing a short skirt that was hidden inside the loincloth. This costume will be the result of Thai cultures interweaving with western cultures without being outshined by them, just like in our society, where both could coexist without Thai tradi*ons going out-of-date. Overall, our costume depicts the effects of *me that have had on our cultures. Newer genera*ons of Thai people see their own culture as inferior even though it is not the truth. Actually, Thai culture can accept foreign tradi*ons, adapt, and merge them together with it. But that could not happen unless we see the worth of our own cultures. Therefore, our design does not only show the combina*on of ours and western culture but also serves as a reminder to Thai people of beauty and importance of Thai culture and also how it might be lost forever if we do not pay a=en*on to it.
