Texas STaR Chart Northside Alternative Middle School North For 2006-2009

Presentation Goals 







To understand what the STaR chart is and why we need to use it. To review our scores for the last three years and discuss trends. To plan ahead and strategize what improvements can be made. Collaborate for successful implementation of technology curriculum and instruction.

What is it and why use it? 





Tool used for technology planning, budgets, resources, and assessment of progress with technology projects. Produces campus profile showing campus status towards reaching Long Range Plan for Technology goals. Allows all stakeholders to view technology readiness of our campus.

Key Area 1 = Teaching and Learning (TL) Key Area 2 = Educator Preparation and Development (EP) Key Area 3 = Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support (L) Key Area 4 = Infrastructure for Technology (INF)

Trends 







TL ~ Proficiency, student mastery and online learning decreased EP ~ Access to Professional Development was the main issue. Major decrease. L ~ Planning, communication, and budget affected major decrease in 07, but communication did get better. INF ~ Consistent ratings and scores with slight decrease in distance learning capacity.

Discussion 



 



Share what you think and how you feel about these ratings and scores. What does the fluctuation in points mean to you? What could be the cause for variation? What could some be some possible solutions to any problems? What can be done for the teachers?

Concerns for Educator Preparation and Development  



This is a major area of concern. Teachers must be armed with the knowledge and skills prior to implementing curriculum and instruction. Professional development issues:    

Conclusion 







We have some Key area concerns that need to be addressed. Our STaR chart shows deficiencies as well as campus strengths. Continue with strengths and work towards resolving weaknesses. Chart team notes and collaborative discussion points and plan for future.
