Assisting in project managing the merger of previously autonomous communications within the different agencies and bodies associated with the DWP. Hosting an Intranet Discussion Group - answering and referring-on questions when appropriate. Acted as a group facilitator and provided support for the other facilitators. Developed web based tutorials: converted manuals to web pages and created a set of linked and easily read interactive programs. These programs are now widely used throughout the DWP. Produced support material for the DWP Intranet Program Manuals and Guidance Workshop for both users and authors who were in central publishing teams. Saved the department costs by seeking outside advice on more than one occasion. Supporting the DWP authors nationally, giving seminars and technical advice when required. Centralised and maintained a national staff database that solved data conflicts. Presently planning to share other data with other departments. Trained and supported a national team of web authors. Planned (prepared the specification for contractors) and oversaw the installation of a new global WAN. Procured and disposed of equipment, software, security and repairs. Fault desk work included troubleshooting, PC builds, control procedures. Stocktaking, budget control, managing contractors’ work, use of software packages, and upgrading of PCs. Improved customer service by implementing WIP system. Saved significant costs by fixing presumed unserviceable PCs and introducing a system that recycled I.T. equipment.
