To begin with, I am Walter Aum Haller of year 10 D, and this is my individual reflection of the global perspectives team project that I had participated in. Firstly, I helped in choosing the topic which we ended up covering in our team project; which was mental health awareness. In this I had contributed a lot. I had done slides 10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18 and partially 21, these slides consisted mostly of information about what are mental health issues, why mental health issues occur (physical, biological, environment stressors and genetic), what types of mental health issues occur most commonly and how to prevent and treat mental health issues. To complete these slides, I had to work extremely hard and had to do a lot of research besides my peers. Initially I started by researching at home about this topic and talking down notes, then later on I combined these notes and created a visual representation of what my specific slides should look like, then I followed through with that thought and it ended it working very well for me. Moreover, I also went to the British school counsellor (counsellor in our school) regarding mental health issues specifically in teenagers from 13-15, I did this task with a fellow teammate. Through this meeting with the counsellor we ended up learning a lot about issues that occur in our school, the main reasons why they occur, and the methods used that are affective in helping out students that reported of suffering of some mental health illness. Through this valuable information we could adjust and tailor the presentation towards the audience that we had targeted, (our school) (which is where we presented our work). Furthermore, I assisted in making minor adjustments to the pre-questionnaire which was taken to gain valuable information about our audience. The further adjustments I had made consisted of; refining the design of the questionnaire, adding small amounts of additional information and making minute overall adjustments. Furthermore, we had presented the presentation on the 15th of march to the year 8’s. our aim of this project, (as stated above) was to raise awareness about mental health issues; we did this by taking a class filled with around 20 students from year 8 (13-year old’s) and showcasing the ppt to them. The overall outcome seemed good, as the students had grasped our main points Thoroughly and had managed to do well on the post-questionnaire. Moreover, they also seemed to enjoy and appreciate that this particular topic was discussed, as it is a topic that affects a lot of people in some way or another. The results from within the post-questionnaire seemed very good, it seemed that nearly all students managed to understand the goal of the presentation. As a result of watching the presentation, they managed to also learn about different cultural perspectives on mental health issues by being presented case studies about mental health issues in India and Korea. They learnt about how mental health issues occur within these countries, why they occur, how they are looked upon and how are they taken care of or managed. To add on, also due to these case studies I managed to learn and research about a lot of mental health issues in different countries such as India and Korea. In addition, because of participating in a team project, I managed to learn and develop my teamwork skills even further. I learned how to cope with others and how to adjust to the way others work, moreover, I also gained the ability of accepting other team members ideas and tried to implement them within the presentation. Furthermore, I accepted that it is good to be criticized, as you can take this positive feedback and use it to improve on your work. Lastly, I learned that I am able to participate in group tasks, that I am an effective group member that does what is required, and I also learned that I truly enjoy participating in group tasks!

In conclusion, I personally believe I grew a lot as a person from this experience, I learnt about mental health issues, where they are common, why they occur, people’s perspectives on it, how much do they affect a person, the consequences of not taking them seriously and learning how to handle and cure them. To add on, I learned to work with others (who would have different ideas and methods of work), thus I had to adjust and adapt. I also learned that group work is extremely fun and is very effective when everyone gives their maximum output. Furthermore, I learned how to teach and engage an audience when presenting. Overall, I learned about a lot of new things and about a lot of new skills!
