Shout Out Preparations Memo To: All Shout Out Attendee Teachers On Thursday, May 19th, you and up to 5 student representatives from your class will have the opportunity to participate in Need in Deed’s annual Shout Out, an event to celebrate your yearlong service-learning project. This year’s Shout Out will be from 4:00-6:00pm at University of the Arts at Broad and Pine. At the Shout Out, we recognize the work of each project and give awards to each class in recognition of their work. The event is attended by Need in Deed teachers and students, Need in Deed Board members and funders, and community partners who help make our work possible. Enclosed you will find three documents to help you prepare for the Shout Out (“What to Expect”, “Project Board Display Instructions” and “How to Prepare Students”). Below is a list of what you need to do prior to the event to ensure that you and your students have a fantastic time. Make a display board: Use the enclosed “Project Display Board Instructions” as a guide to create a display board about your project. Tri-fold boards and additional board-making supplies will be distributed to participants. Drop off your display board: Please drop off your display board at one of the following locations no later than Friday, May 13th. Feltonville School of Arts and Sciences: 210 E. Student representatives should have media release forms on file and be prepared to discuss their projects and their tri-fold boards with other Shout Out guests. Students must also be sure to behave respectfully, as we are there as guests of University of the Arts. Secure permission: Get parent/guardian and School District permission for your student representatives to attend the Shout Out and determine how students will get home when the bus returns them to school after the event concludes at 6pm. If necessary, submit the enclosed “What to Expect at the Shout Out” as an itinerary. Read your email: Need in Deed staff will send out more information regarding specific bus pick up times and other last-minute details as we get closer to the date of the Shout Out. Read your email to stay in the loop! If you have questions about the Shout Out or any of the above, please don’t hesitate to contact a Need in Deed staff member via email or give us a call at the office at 215-964-9020.
