Tangipahoa Parish Government - Public Meeting Regarding disaster recovery

Posted October 6th, 2009 Public Notice LRA Public Meeting Tangipahoa Parish Government The Tangipahoa Parish Government will hold a public hearing related to Hurricane Gustav/Ike federal appropriations of CDBG funds for Tangipahoa Parish and the public is invited to attend. The hearing will be at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26th, 2009 in the Parish Courthouse Annex (the Parish Council Offices) at 206 E. Mulberry Street in Amite. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain public views on the housing, community and economic development needs of Tangiphoa Parish, to discuss the CDBG financed Long Range Disaster Recovery Program amendments for Tangipahoa Parish, and the submission of proposal for funding under the State of Louisiana LRA Gustav and Ike Disaster Recovery Program. At a minimum, the following items will be discussed at the public hearing. • The amount of funds available for proposed community and economic development, housing, coastal, and agricultural recovery through the special CDBG allocation; • The range of activities that may be undertaken, including the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low to moderate income, blight reduction, or urgent needs; • The plans of the parish for minimizing displaced persons as a result of activities assisted with such funds and the benefits that could be provided by the Parish to persons actually displaced as a result of such activities, and • The Parish's past performance on CDBG or LCDBG projects funded by the State or Federal government. All residents, particularly low to moderated income persons, those receiving damage in Hurricanes Gustav or Ike, and residents of blighted areas of the Parish, are encouraged to attend this meeting. Accommodations will be made for person with disabilities and non-English speaking individuals provided that a 3 day notice is received by the Parish.
