He returned and claimed to have lost his ID, requesting a new one September 7, 2001 (three days prior to the terrorist act). The purpose f»r obtaining an Identification card this close to the incident could indicate either: ALHAZMI obtained the identification as a souvenir of the U.S. prior to the hijacking and he had no knowledge of the intention of crashing into the Pentagon. Or the terrorists had decided they should use U.S. photo identification to board the planes in order to reduce any suspicion that may arise from using a Saudi Passport as ID.
