Summer Math Packets Now Available http://www.fcpsteach.org/hp/usersites/nancy_stamatako/Math_Specialist/CMS/ CMS is offering students an opportunity to enhance their success in math class in the coming school year. Mathematics is a cumulative discipline which means that each course builds upon previously learned concepts, incorporating more rigor and higher levels of complexity. To ensure that students have a sound mathematical foundation before moving on to a more challenging math class, we have developed Summer Math Packets that address key concepts from specific levels of the middle school math curriculum. The above site contains links that will allow you to download and print the Summer Math Packets. These packets have a dual purpose. They were created to be used by students who are skipping a level of math, but they can also be used by students who wish to review math concepts that were covered during this school year. The packet for each level contains: Kids' Information Page, Parents' Information Page, Textbook Navigation Page (instructions for accessing the online math textbook), and worksheets for selected objectives. Each worksheet includes an explanation of a particular skill, examples, and practice problems. Parents can obtain answer keys in the CMS front office or request one by email. ([email protected])

For students skipping a level of math: Students who are jumping a level are essentially skipping an entire level of the middle school math curriculum. These summer math packets were created to address key concepts from that curriculum that will help to prepare students for a higher level math class in the coming school year. The Summer Math Packet is optional but is strongly recommended. Students who complete the entire packet and turn it in to their math teacher during the first week of school in August will be treated to an ice cream sundae party and 20 Cavalier coupons. 5th grade to 6 Honors - Choose Level 6 Summer Math Packet 6 Merit to 7 Honors - Choose Level 7 Summer Math Packet 6 Honors & 7 Merit to Algebra - Choose Level 8 Summer Math Packet
