Open space learning processes will be undertaken at the beginning of the program to allow students to develop a project to complete over their period of study, and to give direction to their own learning. Directed by two resident educators, and enlivened by frequent guest lectures, field trips, community service learning, and workshops, the course also provides opportunities for hands-on learning in such areas as gardening/farming, carpentry, renewable energy, pottery, green building, art and music. T H E F A R M H O U S E : During the month of study, students will live cooperatively in a large, traditional Nova Scotia house, and share the tasks of cooking, cleaning and self governance.
