Merry and Bright Tree Card Instructions 1.
Follow the cut diagram at the right to pre-cut one sheet of Old Olive cardstock from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ kit for the pop-up tree. Using the O Christmas Tree die, the Big Shot die cutting machine, and the extended cutting plates, cut the pieces for the pop-up tree. (Note: die cut “pieces with creases” one sheet at a time and use a crease pad if the creases are cutting through. Pieces without creases, like the small tree part, can be cut 3 at a time) There are notations on the cut diagram for which way the cardstock texture should be placed on the die when cutting. The Small Tree Part is a mirror-image piece, so texture does not matter when die cutting.

2.
Punch random holes in the tree parts, using the small hole punch on the Crop4” 4” 2” 2” a-Dile, and set eyelets in the holes. Assemble the tree according to the package (10.2cm) (10.2cm) (5cm) (5cm) instructions. By cutting two Mediums texture-side-up, and two texture-sidedown, you will be able to construct the tree so that the texture is always visible from the front. Once the tree is assembled, string metallic red floss through the eyelets, leaving slack so the tree can fold flat. Test that the tree will fold flat before securing the ends of the floss behind the tree.
3.
Stamp several candy canes in Real Red ink onto scraps of Whisper White cardstock and cut them out. Glue them on the tree as decoration. Stamp the present twice with Mellow Moss and twice with Basic Brown ink onto scraps of Whisper White cardstock and cut them out. Glue them at the bottom of the tree. Use the small red snowflake sticker from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ kit and stick it to a scrap piece of paper. Cut out the snowflake, fold it in half, and glue it to the top of the tree as a topper. Set the finished tree aside.
4.
Cut a 6”x 11.25” (15.25cm x 28.6cm) strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock (included in the Simply Scrappin’ kit) and measure in 4” (10cm) from the left edge and score the strip to fold. Measure in 2.25” (5.7cm) from the right edge and score the strip to fold again, creating an asymmetrical gate fold card that measures 5” x 6” when closed.
5.
Cut a 5.75” x 9” (14.6cm x 22.9cm) strip of striped patterned paper with horizontal stripes running the long way. Cut the strip into three pieces: 1” (2.5cm), 3.75” (9.5cm) and 4.25” (10.8cm). Glue the skinny strip to the far left side of the card interior and the widest strip to the far right side, leaving an equal amount of brown showing above and below the paper. Add the border sticker with the red scallop pattern to the interior edges of the papers. Add a very thin strip of scrap border sticker (the piece between the actual stickers) to the outside edges of the papers. Add the “May your season be merry & bright” sticker.
6.
Stick the cream/brown circle sticker centered over the left fold about 1” (2.5cm) from the bottom edge of the card. Add Sticky Strip tacky tape to the base of the pop-up tree and attach it in the fold over the sticker according to the package instructions. Trim the back tree branches as necessary so the tree will open and close smoothly.
7.
Close the card and glue the final piece of striped paper centered in the larger panel on the front of the card. Remove the stickiness from the reindeer circle sticker by cutting or punching a 2”(ish) diameter circle of scrap paper. Stick the reindeer sticker to it. Remove the remaining stickiness under the scalloped edges by brushing with talcum powder or embossing. Add pop-dots under the left side of the reindeer and attach it to the front of the card in a position where the brown card flap can be tucked under the right side of the reindeer and hold the card closed.
8.
Create a crisp bow with white ribbon by using adhesive to hold down the loops and then covering the center with another small strip of ribbon. Attach the ribbon/bow to the right side of the card front.
9.
The card can be mailed in an A7 sized envelope. (5.25” x 7.25”)
