Vanguardia TITLE 1: Top 3 Studying Techniques of Grade 11 and 12 STEM Students of FAITH Catholic School in Preparation for The Examination QUALITATIVE PURPOSE STATEMENT: This study aims to know the different studying techniques that STEM students use to prepare in their examination. By developing good study and learning techniques, the students will keep their motivation high and achieve their goals more easily and more efficiently. This will help the students to learn how to study smarter, not harder.

CENTRAL QUESTION: What studying techniques do the students use in preparation for the exams? SUB QUESTIONS: 1. What preparation do you do before the examination? 2. What are the ways that will help you in recalling what you studied? 3. What certain application do you use to help you to study easily? JUSTIFICATION/REASONS FOR CONDUCTING THE RESEARCH

3 RELATED LITERATURE TO SUPPORT YOUR STUDY

We conduct this study because there are so many students that don't know how to handle their overload school works. Some wonder if they could perform better in their class and exams. We researchers want to help those students to improve their studying techniques so that it will be still effective in college.

Self-testing enriches and improves the learning process, and he believes there needs to be more focus on using retrieval as a learning strategy. Whether it’s taking notes from lectures or from reading, note-taking has been shown to improve the student learning. (Chang & Ku, 2014)

Use of mnemonic devices like acronyms are proven to increase learning efficiency. (Psych Central, 2018) SCOPE AND LIMITATION

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Senior High STEM of students of FAITH Catholic School are the respondents of this research. This study will focus more on the different studying techniques given by them. It is stated here in the research paper about the studying techniques they do to improve their study habits. Thus, this study does not include students’ other concerns such as school activities.

Nowadays, many students get easily stressed when there are overload school works and exam. This study will be a significant endeavor in the improvement of the students studying techniques. This will be helpful in serving as guide on what may be the best possible technique that students can do and to help them prevent some anxiety and other health issues that can affect the students studying techniques.

ASSUMPTIONS: 1. The preparation of the students before the examination: A. Reviewing for 10 minutes before the exam B. Praying before the exam C. Rest themselves before the examination

2. A certain way that will help you in recalling what you studied: A. Reviewer (making notes) B. Mnemonics C. Making quiz for self-assessment 3. A certain application that help you study easily: A. Genyo B. Quizlet C. Flashcards

RESEARCH METHOD In this research, we focused on phenomenology. This focuses on the commonality of lived experience within a particular group. It describes how human beings experience a certain phenomenon. This method is the one that fits our research because it will investigate the experiences of grades 11 STEM students asking their own opinions on what studying technique do they use in preparation for examinations.

SAMPLING DESIGN (provide the criteria) Purposive Sampling is a non- probability that is selected based on characteristics of a population and the objective of the study. The sample that the group will get should be heterogeneous; the respondents should be diverse when it comes to experience for the credibility of the research. Our respondents for this research are:  FCS Top 20 Honor Students of Grades 11 and 12 who are taking the STEM Strand.
